Honestly, Easter means absolutely nothing to me. It is a Christian celebration, that has been twisted and defiled (like Christmas) by commercialism, consumerism and greed. Rabbits and chocolate eggs are nothing but a gimmick, and people are sucked into spending money and pigging out by big shopping centres and greedy big business. It makes me sad and angry at the same time.
I also HATE the obligation that you need to buy Easter Eggs for everyone you know, and that they have to do the same for you. It's bad enough at Christmas, without putting everyone under pressure at Easter as well. These are religious holidays, and they should be kept untainted and whole for the people to whom they really mean something. Making them commercial enterprises is just offensive and wrong, in my view. |
