Hiya!
has anyone found that too fast a breast milk flow contributes to severe wind in their bub?
Any tips or pointers with breastfeeding to help prevent excess wind in a bub?

Hi there
My Lachlan (who suffered bad reflux) was not breastfed BUT I found that he could not tolerate fast flow teats......his reflux would be worse than ever and wind. Still to this day (10 mths) he has baby teats!
Other mum's I know with babies with reflux/wind/colic probs go to extreme measures to SLOW flow down...you can buy a disc to put in bottles to slow flow down even more....and they use them (I Haven't).
So....after all that...yes I think the flow speed definately effects things like wind and reflux etc.

Hi
I was told by a CHN to hold my baby in a virtually upright position so that he had more control over his intake of milk as he was windy too - I used to sit on the end of the seat and hold him upright so that his feet were hanging down between my legs - I don't really know if this made a difference but the wind has dropped off now that he is older.
It's taxing on the arms but it might work for you
Good Luck
Kris
Hello,
The Australian Breast Feeding Association has a website with a forum on it. You can post your question to them and the 'experts' and other breastfeeding mums will try and help you out.
When I have breastfeeding problems I can usually find the answer there.
