Perth is my 1st choice too!
Should be either going in early 2009 or even earlier.

    Default Hello!!!

    Hi everyone.....
Don't know if you remember me...Sylvia, from the Singaporebrides forum. I have been out of action for a while.

Just to give an update: We submitted our application in late Dec 2006 and received our approval in early Jun 2007. We plan to move to Brisbane in Jan 2008 so that our son can start Grade 2 (Primary one equivalent) there.

We are sending out resumes now and hopefully we can get a job before we go over.

It's really great to see that the Singapore thread here is active....hope to be able to contribute too!!!

hi, you got your PR within so short period of time! I got mine.... after waiting for more than 1.5 years.
    submited Feb 2004.
March 2005 - medical and police check.
May / June 2005 - my son went medi chk.
Aug 2005 - another medi chk again, cos the immi lost my son's medi cert.
    Granted Oct 2005 .....

    i went thru agent.
    wat abt u?

wat makes you decide to settle in brisbane?
will you stay in motel first before finding a permanent house?

    Hi Mngo,

Yah, we are rather blessed that things went quite smoothly...
    Dec 06- submitted appln
    Feb 06- ack
May 06- Police clearance and meds requested
    Jun 06 approved.
    We did the applns ourselves.

We initially wanted to go to Melbourne. But changed our minds and decided to go to Brisbane cos we have friends (2 singapore families) there who have been most helpful. Our friends have offered that we could stay with them first before we rent a place.

Also, we have managed to secure a place for our son in a Catholic school in one of the suburbs. I shortlisted a few schools in the area and with the help of our friends, decided on the school that they will be sending their son to as well.

My husband may be going there first end of this year, to try to get a job and settle the house/car, etc. Then things will be easier when my son and I come over in Jan 2008.

I guess another plus point about Brisbane would that the weather is milder.

You will be going next year as well?
