Baby Einstein DVDs

Just wondering who watches these DVD's? And what exactly are they all about? I have been seeing them everywhere, just curious if they are any good?

Also who watches 'Your baby can read'? I was thinking about buying them but they are quite expensive, so just wanted some feedback.

Yeah I am interested about these too, I keep watching them on ebay (much cheaper ), and am interested in getting the underwater ocean one (cant remember what its called though)

i joined a monthly subscription with scholastic, a baby einstein one and got the package last week. it came with a bonus dvd. i put it on and neve was glued to the tv through the whole thing. it is basically classical music and pictures, visual stimulation. they have different dvds for various ages. quite educational. I think they are great.

The Baby Einstein DVDs, depending on the theme, are a lot of visuals accompanied by classical music. The Baby Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, for example, shows you a series of toys in motion. There are some people who look at these visuals as nothing but to a baby, they're actually stimulating--the spinning, turning, waddling, etc. Also, rich in colours! It also gives parents an opportunity to interact with bub by guiding them through the colours or by naming what toy animal passes by.

The more advanced Baby Einstein DVDs like: Neptune, Da Vinci, Gallileo are excellent for bubs to explore visuals of things related to water, the human body, and space respectively.
I think they're a good investment for your child.

As for the "Your Baby Can Read", I was very tempted to buy that as well. But after viewing some videos online, I thought that the book/dvd isn't needed to teach your baby to read. Read your baby a story as much as you can and while you do so, point your fingers to the words as you do. It's amazing that at a young age they can actually recognize letters, sounds and figure out a series of patterns and combinations of letters. You can also improvise by making your own cue cards like one of the videos. Draw a head with the word HEAD and another one without the drawing. They recognize and remember the letters, the words.

I think, reading to your child makes a whole wide of difference. This was how I learned to read and write--my parents and their friends read to me. They pointing out billboards, building signs and read it out everytime we went for a drive. I could recognize words and letters when I was at least 1. I remember that when I was between 3 and 4 I had my own blackboard and wrote letters. I asked one of my mom's students to read what I wrote and he joked that it read out "Honeypie" to amuse me. I knew that it didn't read that. Sesame Street had a very big influence as well.

With some baby products, you're very wise to ask other people's opinions before buying them. Because we all want what's best for our kids, we are easy targets for these types of companies. Children have very simple pleasures, especially babies. There are times that we buy them such expensive toys and they enjoy the pot and wooden spoon more!

There are so many ways to teach your child how to read and you don't have to spend. Just grab a book from the library; buy or make alphabet/number cue cards; borrow a kids show that features letters, words, numbers--ex. Sesame Street (in my view, this is still the best educational program).

I'll keep looking at ebay to see if I can get a bargain on the baby einstein dvds.

My DD was given the Neighourbood animals dvd and absoulutely loves it! She loves animals and whenever she see's the case wants to put it on! I haven't seen any of the others..

We have 3 of the Baby Einstein DVD's. Troy LOVES them to bits. He will lie there with his eyes glued to the screen, he loves all the colours.

I also have a 3yr old who had one of the DVDs on repeat play for 12hrs the other day while he was lying on the floor playing cars.
