    Default Epileptic Mummy

From the start of my pregnancy, I was told by my OB that breast feeding may not be an option at all. I would like to combine feed and I havent got a problem bottle feeding at all. Are there any Mummies at there with Epilepsy that combine feed?

i havnt got any experience in this but maybe if you do an internet search for epilepsy and then narrow it down to pregnancy/breastfeeding etc im sure you will find some useful information. Good luck with your baby!

    Hi there,
I don't have any experience in your situation but my suggestion would be to contact a lactation consultant, they are specialists in the breastfeeding area, from what I understand are all medically trained and are worth their weight in gold.
    Good luck

what meds are you on? i am on tegretol 400 mg per day and preg (8 weeks) i have not been advised not to breast feed ....yet. i am going to gold coast hosp and when i had my son he had low muscle tone and would not latch on to the breast, the lactation consultant there was fantastic. i have found my gp is not that knowledgable on epilepsy meds so ask your neuro, good luck

Suemp is right, it really depends on the medication you are on. Perhaps you could have the medication changed if it was something you really wanted to do. Good luck!
