Question Have they or haven't they???

    Can anyone help out?

At about 2.20am this morning, I was half asleep and laying on my side, I feel a pop, and a little bit of liquid leaks out. So off I go to the loo, and there is some on the pad. Still half asleep, I call the hospital up again (they must be sick of me now), and tell them I think my waters have broken. She asks me a whole heap of questions, tells me too keep the pad on, and each time I have a contraction, some liquid should leak out, and to call back in an hour and see how we're going.

I went back to slepp just after three, and after havin a fair few more contractions and although they are more painful than before, no leaking liquid. Which is what the midwife said to call back about.

My question is, every time I stand or walk, it feels like a rounded anvil is on my pelvis - it didn't feel like that before hand. Sitting isn't too bad, and it isn't there at all if I lay down, but I'm wondering if that means that my waters have broken? Cause bub doesn't have anything but my pelvis to rest his head on now?

Please help. I feel like such an idiot calling up the hospital all the time. I know they expect it and every thing, but it doesn't help me feel any less of a moron.

A similar thing happened to me almost a week before my bubs came. I had a lot of liquid come out, was quite concerned and rang the hospital. When I went for a check, they couldn't explain what it was but confirmed that I wasn't yet dilated or contracting.

My 'real' waters than broke about 5 days later - no mistaking it this time - I was standing in a pool of liquid - sorry if TMI.

Just monitor it but always go to the hospital if you are concerned - doesn't matter what they think or say - this is your bub !

Thanks rynosmum - the pain is there while I'm sitting now. It's just a constant. I really don't want to get up (I'm a wuss).

I guess after two false alarms, I feel like a real twit - a really emotional twit.

Please stop being so harsh on yourself, you are nervous and excited about doing the right thing. These trial runs can be extremely exhausting but any moment the "real" thing will be happening.

You labor sounds a lot like some of mine, and things really started to get moving when I had a "show", have you had this yet?

My waters broke at 2.30am and I felt a pop too. There was quite a lot of water, although it mostly came out while I was lying down. (When you stand up, bubs head moves down and can stop the waters from leaking out)

Have you had any mucous yet? That's also a good sign that it's happening.

The hospital get calls every day with questions, don't feel bad about ringing them, that's their job. Make sure you get all the answers you want, better a calm mummy than a worried one.

Yep, the show started to happen yesterday.

Had a few more contractions, but they are much more painful than the ones I've had previously.

I'm trying not to go too hard on myslef moonblossom - I guess this isn't quite what I expected to happen, so I'm getting nervous and uptight. Trying to relax and take things easy at the moment. Talking to you girls on bub hub works a treat!

We all know what your going through so as MB said try not to be so harsh on yourself !
I called the birthing unit possibly every 3hrs LOL when i started but that was also cause i couldnt stop being sick but when i had my show i couldnt remember if it was meant to keep going as in leaking so here was me on the phone all stressed im sure they were trying not to laugh at me
The pain your feeling sounds like when bubs head has moved right down IMO i could be wrong but its not nice if thats what it is i even remember on the Sunday morning before going back to the hospital ( i started Friday 3am ) sitting in the shower crying from all the pains i was having contractions, the pain in my pelvis & being sick all the time.
Try to relax keep having showers or if your hubby is home have as many baths as you like just to keep yourself calm. I say do this with hubby home because if something happens & you cant get out it could be a problem.
Labour is never really what we expect especially first time cause we dont really know what its all about etc so dont worry call the birthing unit if you need to as wattle said they get this all the time & its better to be reassured !
Take care hopefully it happens soon !

Shaelia it could be a hind water leak these arent as much water as a fore water leak (when you have a fore water leak you'll know it !! )

PLEASE dont ever feel bad to contact the hospital and go there for false alarms.. i must have had 50 false alarms with Ethan !!
Perhaps call them and say you think your hind waters may have broken and see what they say, you should get it checked out... but it may also be mucus, i had lots of "watery" mucus about a week before E was born (sorry if TMI) they even checked me for a hind water leak but said there was just lots of mucus !!

Wont be long now either way !! yay !!

Ooooo I am so excited for you! You are going to have a little bubba! You ring that hospital as many times as you like, if you are feeling funny about ringing them then get hubby or whoever is around you to ring them for you.

    Good luck!

It sounds like you've lost a bit of you forewaters and bubs head has engaged deeply to plug it up noicely
It looks like you'll be labouring soon, don't worry about how many times you need to call the hospital, that's what they are there for.
Hugs and oxytocin vibes to you
    Best of luck!
