    Default Low temp, clammy forehead

    Hi all,

My 6 week (corrected) / 11 week old son is sleeping quite a bit at the moment, has had a snuffly nose for the past day and a half, and now feels quite cold and clammy on his forehead.

The ear thermometer read at 35.6 degrees, but everything we read says that a thermometer cannot register below 36 accurately unless it is specifically a low reading thermometer.

In any case, he has been eating well, peeing and pooing fine, and has had some ok awake time today, although he hasn't been as bright as usual.

I think its just a cold, but this cold clammy forehead is stressing me out a little.

Has anyone come across this with a cold? I am ready to take him to hospital if necessary, I am just going to wake him and feed him and see how he is first.

I think he is ok, and I am just overreacting (new mum and all!) but nothing in my books or on the net seems to cover his symptoms, without others attached, which he does not have.

    Thanks!

Personally I find most ear thermometers to be quite inacurate espesially in tiny newborn ears. I prefer a didgital under the arm thermometer.
If he is eating, pooing and weeing fine I would just keep an eye on him. Sounds like he might have a bit of a cold but if he does get worse it can't hurt to get him checked out.
