    Default Cup Questions

AF still hasn't come back but now that I'm only BFing overnight I'd like to be prepared for her return. I've known for many moons that I want a cup but have dithered over which to buy - Lunette, Divacup or Mooncup?

One thing that's hard to work out is the sizing, as some of the cups have pre-baby and post-baby sizing. What if you got fully dilated but had to have a c-section in the end? Does that count as 'have not given birth' since bub didn't come down the birth canal, even though the cervix was fully dilated?

Also, does anyone use a cup at work??? I'm not sure how comfortable I feel about having to wash it in the sink in front of workmates (if I ever had to). How do you get around that?

I just got my cup, so am a novice, lol, but here are my answers.

I got a diva cup, as it has a 1 year warranty, if you don't like it you can get your money back. Also, it is the cheapest.

Diva cup have a size two, which is for anyone who has had a baby, vaginally or c-section, or if you are over 30....

You don't need to wash it/rinse it every time. You can wipe it out with toilet paper, or bring in a little squeesy bottle of water with you, or a little wet washer in a ziplock bag.

I have two boobs for a reason:
    ~Olivia~ 2 and a bit!
~Elora~ Homebirthed waterbabe, will be 1 in March!

I'm also a cup novice, waiting for AF to arrive...

Whichever cup you want to buy is simply up to you. I would have a look at Obsidian's website, can PM you the link. She has done a bit of a comparison of all the cups, with pictures of what they look like side by side...

I have a Diva Cup. I bought it off Ebay and it was $33 including postage. Arrived in six days (and that's INCLUDING the weekend! Wow!). It claims to be the only cup that has a full 1 year money back guarantee (so you can try it, if you don't like it, you can return it for a refund).

Even if you have had a baby, and you're under 30, even if it was a c-section, you will still need to make sure you order size 2 for DivaCups. Not sure about everyone else.

I plan on using my cup at work AND in public. I plan to use it swimming if I need to. I wont be washing it in the sink (unless of course there's a disabled toilet on my level at work only, or a private toilet and sink in a parent's room). Diva says just to tip out the contents, and wipe with a tissue until the next time you can wash it out. However, I don't really see this as a problem unless you usually have a heavy flow (in which case, cup users have been reporting less heavy flows), because I will probably just wear mine the whole time I'm at work... With maybe a cloth panty liner as a backup.

i have only used my cup for 1 cycle but i just took a little squeeze bottle of water to rinse and rinsed it over the toilet. or you can just wipe it with toilet paper. i have a mooncup that my sister got me so i am unsure about the cost.

definately check out obsidians website it has a great cup comparison of the different cups. and some really fasinating photos from 1 woman. if you have been pregnant it is a good idea to get the larger size. pregnacy affects our plevic floor just as much as labout and vaginal delivery does. if you have had a c-section i would still get the larger cup.

Thanks guys. I've seen Obsidian's site, it's great (in fact almost TOO much info) - just thought I'd ask my fellow Hub mummies what THEY think and do

I was leaning towards a Lunette because of the flat stem, sounds more comfortable...but not sure if I can justify the cost...might just get the Divacup and see how I go, at least I can return it if I don't like it.

Unless anyone out there wants to buy a Lunette with me - you can get the Lunettes cheaper if you buy a couple at once! hehehe

If you don't find anyone that wants to buy a Lunette for their first one (albeit for me to deny someone their first cup! Ha!) - then I will. Obsi says for her it's an easier cup to clean, especially in reference to the holes.

    Let me know.

Pobblebonk - they work out to be 25 Euros each if you buy two at once which works out to be about $40 Aussie. Plus shipping which is a few euros extra...

I'm sure I remember seeing a thread somewhere where someone said they bought several Lunettes and got free shipping, so I'll look into that and let you know

Too late she cried! Myself and three friends just did an order of four cups-2 of the buy 2 deals. We had some issues with trying to pay though, so this morning I set up Paypal to make it all easier. it works out at $44 each as the postage is free because our order was more than $119 AU.

ETA- I just saw your next post.
