    Default Urgent question

I ate chicken wings last night with a bbq and my DH, myself and our guest have been up all night with diarrhoea and DH had vomiting also.

Im 31 weeks pregnant and Im not sure how serious this can be when pregnant. I feel a little better this morning and the diarrhoea has stopped. Should I still call the hospital to get checked?

Food posioning will just make you feel sick. If you can keep fluids down and aren't dehydrated then you'll be fine. You can always ring the hospital and double check, but I'm sure it's only dehydration they worry about.

I would call the hospital just to be on the safe side, although everything will probably be fine...

Make sure you keep up your fluids...
All the best and I hope you are all feeling better soon...

It is recomended in antinatal classes to call the hospital when you have anything like that just so they can check you over I had the same thing happen when I was about 35 weeks along they asked me to come in for a check up just to be sure I wasnt dehydrated

    Salmonella
Salmonella can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, fever and headache. Pregnant women are not at an increased risk of contracting salmonellosis, but in rare cases it may trigger miscarriage.
So it’s advisable to avoid foods that contain raw egg and always cook meat, chicken and eggs thoroughly. In addition, the NSW Food Authority recommend that pregnant women do not eat any type of sprout (including alfalfa sprouts, broccoli sprouts, onion sprouts, sunflower sprouts, clover sprouts, radish sprouts, snowpea sprouts, mung beans and soybeans) either raw or uncooked.
    Toxoplasmosis

Toxoplasmosis while uncommon in pregnant women can occur if you eat undercooked meats, or unwashed fruit and vegetables (particularly from gardens with household cats). Most commonly, however, infection is caused by touching cat and dog faeces when cleaning the kitty litter tray or contaminated soil in the garden. It is particularly important to avoid toxoplasmosis during pregnancy because it can lead to brain damage or blindness in your unborn child.

Extreme scenarios/consequences but I would def go get yourself checked out!!
It is time for women to take back their births and give themselves and their babies the best chance at a miraculous start. Birth, or its effects—both good and bad—last a lifetime.

Thought i'd throw this in but there has been a bug through Brissy lately that is vomiting/diarrehoa.....so could be a bug instead of food poisoning. It has run rampant through work the last week or so....just thought i'd mention it
