Default Traumatic Planned Homebirth - public poll version

Okay, following on from the very obviously spiked poll, I am re-doing this with public voting.

It is important we share honestly. I am a very open-minded person, hence why I was once originally staunchly pro-hospy birth, and throughout the course of the past 8 years, and 4 births later, I am totally sold on homebirth as the only way to go for me.

So, if someone wants to share their personal traumatic planned homebirth experience, please do. Your voice deserves to be heard, you will not be judged, and we will all be humbled to learn from your experience. We all need to learn.

So no 'opinions' on others experiences please, to afford people a safe atmosphere to share.

Also note, when placing a vote that I stressed planned homebirth, as well as non-transfer before baby was pushed out.

ie, the baby has to have been birthed at home, as a result of prior planning for a homebirth.

by the way, I dont like the blaming the midwife option...

    obviously spiked...

I know of a few of women who have had bad homebirths, who blame the mw for things they did to them - who subsequently went on to have wonderful freebirths. If you want access to these women, you can pm me and I will let you know how you can contact them.

so it is a legitimate option.

Some blame birth trauma on location.

Some blame birth trauma on care-provider failing them.

Some blame birth trauma on their own lack of knowledge.

Some blame birth trauma on their own body failing them.

The list goes on.........just trying to cover all bases, iykwim.

Hi Becca, I read your comparison of your hospy notes and homebirth notes: VERY TELLING, as you say, "decide for yourself". It was like you were a specimen, not even really a person. You have a powerful story to tell, like Teresa's.

(Here is the link to Teresa's story again, for anyone who has not yet seen it!)

Every woman is entitled to make her own informed choices about how she wants to give birth - hopsy birth is funded and supported, that's good - but homebirth still is NOT. When our government finally supports and properly funds homebirth and gives midwives Medicare provider numbers, then we will see choice - compassionate choice - finally available to Aussie women & families.

"76.7% of NZ women are cared for by midwives. 3.18% of Australian women are cared for by midwives. Are Australian women sick? Only 12% of Australian women fit the medical\obstetric complication criteria."

From the attitude in here I'd be surprised if anyone was willing to admit they had a negative experience and submit themself to the battery of questions awaiting them.
