Demand for 'designer vaginas' on the rise

Seriously are they taking the **** out of me? Is there any part of ourselves as women we won't criticise and scrutinise??

RISING numbers of women in Britain are seeking state-funded cosmetic surgery on their genitals, doctors say.

Writing in the British Medical Journal, they said the number of "labial reductions" carried out in National Health Service hospitals had doubled to 800 a year over five years.

"More and more women are said to be troubled by the shape, size or proportions of their vulvas", wrote Lih Mei Liao and Sarah Creighton from London's UCL Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Institute for Women's Health.

Articles in women's magazines about "designer vaginas", the rising popularity of cosmetic surgery and Internet promotion by private health clinics were all fuelling demand.

The authors said women seeking surgery were being influenced by idealised images of genitalia shown in pornography and on private genitoplasty websites.

Ms Liao said research was needed into whether surgery was bringing long-term benefits to patients, before the NHS started routinely offering the cosmetic procedure.

Cant say I look that closely at mine to compare it to others...I guess I just assume we all look pretty much alike

...but my DH has never complained

... dont think I will be getting the surgry done !!

If you were hidiously deformed in that region I guess it would be nice to have it "fixed"

I can understand this for Women who have been disfigured by things like female circumcision but just to make your gina look pretty?

but seriously its getting a bit beyond a joke.. if uve got more money than sense go for it i say!

IMO i think its got alot to do with how women are portrayed in magazines and porn vids.. eg wanting a new fanny cuz debbie in the porn vid your DH/DP watche has a good looking one... haha

personally who cares.. its part of your uniqueness as a person... and really.. unless your a pornstar no ones gonna notice youve got it done anyways!!!!

I should have asked for one with a zip a few years ago, would have made giving birth a bit easier.

I was actually going to go and get it done - no joke! Nope I am not disfigured on anything just wanted more of an innie. I don't see anything wrong with getting it done it's just the same as getting say breast enhancement or reduction etc.

Iv seen one of these being done on doctor 90210........I cant even tell them difference bewteen the before and after.......all looked fine to me....
What will they think of next.???
