    Default Leaking boobs and swimming?

    Hi

I am breastfeeding however a few times during the day my boobs will leak. With this hot weather it would be so good to go for a swim, but what happens if my boobs start leaking while I am at the beach? Not a pretty sight! And you can't really wear breast pads, so what do I do? Just not go swimming until I have stopped breastfeeding?

    Thanks

I'd be a basket case if I didn't swim while breastfeeding - I'm a compulsive lap swimmer, and have fed my previous 2 babies for over three years each. I went into labour in the local swimming pool with #2, and I was back there again 10 days later, leaking boobs notwithstanding.

I just swim regardless, although I am face down, bum up, flogging myself up and down the pool the whole time I am in the water - I do a couple of kilometers per session.

If your swimming and your leaking how would you know?

I swim anyway, jump into the backyard pool once in a while... although wasn't allowed to until 6 weeks after birth? meh, that wasn't fun on really hot days!

I expected that was what my obstetrician would say, but the answer I got from him pretty much shocked me. He said that as far as he was concerned, I could go for a swim while I was still a patient at the hospital, and come back again afterwards - as long as I could manage tampons. I had no tears or episiotomy, though.

It took me 10 days to be able to keep a tampon in place, and then I was back at it again. I was also fortunate that most of the flow had stopped after about 7 days.

ahh see I had a tear... and tampons? what are they again? lol
I was told because of swimming in a pool and the bacteria that it wouldn't be safe, anyway, I'm sure that yeah it may be due to a difficult birth.

I find that jumping into the water won't trigger a letdown at all.

The only time in regards to water I have had my boobs leak is in the shower or bath under the really warm water.

I would just go swimming if I was you! Don't worry about the boobies

    Its all natural anyway.

i bought some Lily Padz ... adhesive-like non-asorbing resusable breast pads. I got them as I needed to wear a strapless backless dress (Yes I was in a panic before I discovered them). On the pack it said they are suitable for swimming.

I got them online but I can't remember what shop, but a google search should bring up a few suppliers.
