Default Another bub after caesarean? How long should I wait?

    Hi All,

I am anxious to know how long I should wait before falling pregnant again? My first little girl was born by Caesarean (caesar was pre-organised) the 4 September..This makes her 18 wks old..

4 months since I've had my caesar..I would like to aim towards having another baby straightaway as I am 34 years of age & time's a ticking!

Wondering if any of you have been on the same boat & how long you have waited before falling pregnant again after your first bub & caesar..

Hope to hear from you soon..thanks in advance..x

    Hi (& welcome maybe) Amismum!

I had an emergency c/s with DS1 then fell pregnant (unexpectedly) with #2 when DS1 was 6mths old.
They are 14.5mths apart and I had a v.birth with DS2, which was encouraged by my care provider's who were also a source of information.
Maybe talk to your Dr or Ob. to have your c.scar checked.
    Goodluck!

My first c/section was 9 months ago and I am pregnant again. My doctor told me today that there is very little risk in another pregnancy close to a c/section because of the kind of cut used now. But of course discuss it with your gp or ob.

I think it depends a bit on whether or not you are going to have another c-section? I've read that you should wait about 18 months, but i think that was years ago, when they used the vertical cut not the bikini one they use now.

One of my friends had her boys 10 months apart and had another caeser, but it probably depends on how well you've healed too.....

Default Thank for your responses girls..

I would really like to have a VBAC for bub #2 next time round.

I had our little girl via caesar for safety reasons alone as a close friend had lost her bub through a VB & I didn't want to obviously experience such trauma..

I feel it is part of my womanhood to have bub via VBAC so as I will have experienced this also..unfortunatley I heard a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine had a bub via VBAC and the uterus was ruptured & bub had problems and will have for a long time to come..v.sad..(uterus was ruptured) it seems that these v.unfortunate happenings are all a little too eerily connected with people close to me & yes it is of concern to me as to which way I should have bub #2 next time round..

Can you please advise whether you had any trauma via VBAC and what I should perhaps expect..my OBS has already advised he will not assist with a VBAC after giving me a Caesar..

I'm ttc #2 now, DS1 was a c/s baby and is 6 months old. We were told we could ttc when I felt up to it which was pretty much straight away, but it can take longer ttc after a c/s, we started really 'trying' last cycle.

    Good Luck

my OBS has already advised he will not assist with a VBAC after giving me a Caesar..
Wow, what a crappy doc! Sorry...but that is just wrong! If you had no actual medical reson for having a c-section first time round (and i don't mean anything by that, my 2nd c/s was elective but advisable, and i would have done it anyhow as i was scared of a vaginal birth after my first labour), then there should be no reason for not being able to try for a VBAC this time! From what i've heard, most docs actually try to encourage you to have a vaginal birth after a c-section as long as there are no medical problems.....I personally would try to find another doctor who is willing to let you have a go....

Sorry for the rant, i just can't understand why he would say that.....
    Good Luck anyhow!
