    Default Mummy Hair

Ever since I was a little school girl (and a big one!) I have had long hair. In school I used to be all creative and had all sorts of fancy hair-dos and have always been proud of being able to braid my own hair

But since I became a mummy, every day its just been washed and pulled back into a pony tail. Attractive!

So................yesterday I got the chop. All my long locks gone forever, in favour of a very short, no-fuss, low-maintenance, mummy cut.

Everything feels different now I have short hair. Dare I say it...I actually feel like a grown up now!

So my question to you all is....when did you decide to go for practical mummy hair?

Oh wow - a big step! Congratulations!
I had my hair chopped when DD1 was 10 months old.
The disadvantage - you need to get to the hairdresser more often with short hair.
The advantage - you need to get to the hairdresser more often with short hair (and it looks better). I get foils done too so can guarantee two hours of toddler free time and gossip with my hairdresser every few weeks

Well I've always had sensible mommy hair, till about 3 years ago when I started growing it. For the first time I have hair nearly down to my bum LOL. Went completely different, was blonde now black....ummm but I do admit, with this bub coming, what on earth am I going to do with it because I SO remember how even my short hair was pulled when the others were little LOL

    Hi Nicole

Yep - I've had the chop. I cut most of mine off when DS1 was about 6 months ... and then just before I had number 2 I went shorter. I distinctly recall my hair not being long enough to tie back and I didn't want sweaty hair in face during labour.

My hair routine now consists of a wash, wait till it dries .. and a bit of product. I used to wonder how one could possibly go without a hairdryer in one's house ... now I know!

I did it a couple of weeks ago. I got sick of the big long daggy pony tail day in day out, no to mention no fringe unless I cut it myself, so pretty.

I have really thick hair and bought home a big bag of hair to show DD. I felt like a newly shorn sheep.

I've toyed with the idea but haven't gone there for a couple of reasons...

    # 1 - I can't get the voice of an old acquantance (sp) out of my head who, when I previously mentioned cutting my hair again, said that I would just be a "fat chick with short hair"

    # 2 - I cut all my hair off (Annie Lennox style) when I was younger and then always wanted my long hair back as it was so much easier just to pull back and forget, rather than have to 'do' short hair every day.

    # 3 - DH won't let me get the chop. Loves long hair.

Regardless of all the above, I do still consider it every trip to the hairdresser! I'd love to even just go to a bob, but DH still says no to that! Damn men.
When an internet forum is able to make you feel like cr@p, like you have nothing to offer the world and you're a complete waste of space, that your opinions are irrelevant & even if they were relevant no one wants to hear them...... then it's time to leave.......

My DH wanted me to keep my long hair as well ... but therein lies the issue. It's my hair! And if he wants to get up earlier to do it for me then I'll grow it back, every single red lock. But until then, mummy cut stays
