    Default Hi everyone

    Hi everyone,

I am new to this section so I thought I would just say 'hi'.
As of today I am officially a SAHM. I have a 9month old DD and have been on Maternity leave, but today I officially told my employer that I would not be returning to work......ever!!!
I love being a SAHM, but now that I have resigned from my job I sort of feel like I have lost a part of my identity. Has anyone else experienced that? I have worked ever since I was 15yrs so it seems strange that I don't have a job anymore (paid job). I guess I just need to get used to the idea that my job is being a SAHM!!

    Welcome to both of you.

Monkeytoes if that is what you felt was right to do then you did the right thing!!

You may have lost that identity but have gained a new one. The girls here are a great support.

    Default Know how you feel!

    Hi
My name is Carole and I am 30 and I became a SAHM too recently after nearly 12 years in the workforce. I agree, it is very strange not going to work anymore and I miss the adult conversation and doing my job. But, this is my job now - being a mummy - and I think it keeps getting better and better each day. It is very different but hey life is about new experiences and life is too short and goes so quickly that we should just relish in our new 'positions' and enjoy enjoy enjoy!!

Being a SAHM has been an adjustment for me too. I love it, but I do have days where we just don't seem to get off the ground! I go to the shopping centres way too often and we explore the parks in the Brisbane area. We also have a Kindermusik class one day a week and playgroup one day a week. I am a long way from my parents and in-laws, so I do miss that family connection. We also just moved back to Australia (gone 15 years), so I'm missing my friends too.

    Hi

I'm a SAHM as well with a 10 mth old son. I am finding it hard as I never intended to leave my job, but the stress after undergoing IVF as well as other issues with my boss led me to resign when I was 5 mths pregnant. Financially, I know our lives may be easier if I found another job, but at the same time I don't want to leave DS.

Also, I do miss the adult interaction as everyone I know is working full time.

I know this isn`t face to face but it is a godsend when adult conversation is needed and you feel abit lonely!

When i had my first way back in 1991 there was nothing like this and it was lonely. I used to always wish for a Wed to come for Baby gp to get together.

Keep chatting with us...always here if you need to let off some steam!
