Angry Its official i hate teething !

Ok i would like to know who invented teething & how they thought it was such a great idea ..... Cmon now own up !!!!!
Id also like to know where i can buy a manual on how we are meant to cope with it.
    For starters :
    * What do we do when bubs wont let anything near their mouth let alone the medicine to help them feel better ? ( sorry but im not keen on wearing more milk, dymadon, brauers or food for today i think changing 5 times is sufficient )
    * What to do when bubs has only slept 4hrs overnite & approx 1hr through the day so is very overtired ? ( yes im overtired too i think im starting to hallucinate now oooo what pretty flying pigs ! )
    * What to do when you have a grumpy as all hell bubba who screams & cries no matter what you try ( this i must say is the one i really need the answer to ! especially as im sure child services are on their way ! )
    * What to do when they seem to keep biting themselves with the new teeth & drawing blood ? ( this is also one im really not too happy about but then when ive been bitten by him im also not keen on seeing my own blood no wonder he screams i have to stop myself )

I will leave it there for now im sure many of you have others you would like to add at least i now feel a little better having my vent.

You too huh? Raleigh (8 1/2 mo) has turned into the spawn of satan now she's got FOUR yes you read that right FOUR more teeth trying to cut at once. Oh well, once these four are through that'll make 12 more to go *sigh* I sure am hearing you.

Teeth are cruel things- they come up and down and up and down- finally cut only to lose them 4-5years later!!!!

My DD 5 1/2 mths is cutting her two bottom teeth- and boy don't i know it!!!

We got 2 1/2 hrs sleep last ight, and she has only had 4 20-30min naps today! Has only just flaked now- with a little help from panadol and a herbal calming tonic!!! She is how ever grizzling in her sleep- so i think we are in for another rough night- YAY

    Where is the off switch????

    Hi Allyoo,
I use a teething elixir made by a chemist here in Melbourne - it's fantastic!!! Apparently people travel from the other side of town just to get it (I travelled 40mins) - they do postal orders. If anyone's interested just pm me and I can give you their details...it's magic stuff!!!

I will see how he goes in the next day or so carlyb & i might get those details as my sis lives on the pennisula in Vic & im sure as she is coming up from Christmas she will be happy to go get me some.
Bubs went off to sleep at 8.30pm which isnt too bad but he just keeps waking up crying every hour or so & i feel so terrible especially when he starts sobbing mamma
When he wakes up again i think i will give him a top up bottle if he wants it as he has hardly taken anything today so maybe this will comfort him a little & some dymadon if again he will take that.
Looks like another sleepless nite ! YAY ! auuugh.
Imogensmum - If you find it please PLEASE tell me where it is i will pay good money heh.

DD2 is 6m and is currently getting her top two teeth, got the bottom two around 2 months ago.

We use Brauers Teething Relief and Bonjela (safe to use together). Panadol didn't seem to help DD1 with her teeth so I've just stuck with what I know works w DD2. I don't know about other children but both my two learnt what the bottle and tube was.

DD2 already knows and when she's whingy, I give her a "chewy" (teething ring from the fridge). If she's really gnawing into that I show her the Brauers and Bonjela and she quietens straight away, then opens her mouth waiting for it. (If she's just whingy for someother reason she clams her mouth shut so I can't get the bonjela in)

Am I right in assuming that these are Harry's first teeth? You'll find something that works, might have to try different things, but just go with the flow. I know it's hard when you don't know what to give, I find that DD2 just wants to be cuddled all the time, like yesterday I hardly got anything done because she wouldn't let me get more than 1 foot away from her before she screamed. It will get easier because you'll notice the signs before it gets really painful for Harry and you'll be able to get a head start.

If Harry does manage to fall asleep today, lay with him in your bed, cuddle up, it might help him if he feels comfortable. That way you might both get a bit of rest. Dose him up on teething medicine before his nap (if you are able to get it in his mouth, hold his bottom jaw up so he's forced to swallow).

About the constant screaming, I think cuddles are usually the best way to stop this, well works for my two.

And unfortunately I don't know about the drawing blood part. Luckily I haven't had this problem (probably jinxed myself now, but we'll deal with that if it happens.)

Good luck, hopefully it cuts through soon and you get your happy little Harry back.
