    Default Massage Therapy Courses?

Hi, I have decided to take on a whole new career change and become a massage therapist. All the courses I've looked at so far are all full time attendance courses and at the moment I can't get full time day care for my daughter. I was wondering if anyone knew of any courses where you could do the theory side of it by correspondence. I will be living in South Australia so anything there would be fantastic. I tried some of the Qld correspondence schools like Open Learning and they all said that they only cater for Qld based students for insurance reasons. I move from Qld to SA in 3 months time. Any advice would be great.

You could try The Australian College of Applied Science. They have campus's in Brisbane and Canberra but offer courses through distance ED.
    Their site is www. aias.com.au

There is also the Australian college of natural medicine and The Australiasian college of natural therapies.

I looked into doing courses through all these places a while ago. I'm pretty sure they all had massage courses as well. The only real problem with studying through all these independant colleges is that they generally are very expensive

I know there is also a massage college somewhere that offers distant ed courses. I think it might have been in melbourne.

If you google what you are looking for you will get a heap of sites. You could also look in the employment section in the paper under the career training section. That's how i found out about them all.

    Anyways hope that's some help.

I'm looking into the same thing at the moment and rather than signing up for a Cert. IV or Diploma straight away I have attended a couple of workshops to ensure that it is something that I would like to pursue. I must admit - I love it. When I do start studying I am able to receive recognition of prior learning for the workshops I've attended.
I have received brochures for both the Australian College of Massage & the AIAS. I am leaning towards the AIAS as there seems to be more clinics up this way that run workshops in allignment with the modules you study. They should then be able to help you find a clinic in SA to help when you move.
Advertised in the Townsville Bulletin is a place called "Naturally Healthy" which runs workshops for the AIAS over a weekend. A great way to get hands on experience and complete a module. I believe you can do all of your clinic hours there aswell. Could be worth a call.
Otherwise the Australian College of Massage & Robyn Morro (both in Townsville) run evening classes.
Good on you for the career change

Hi, thanks for the info. I've looked into quite a few courses now, but can't find anything that has a timetable which suits my needs and doesn't cost thousands of dollars. My daughter is in childcare 2 days a week so that is the only time I could attend a workshop. Weekends and nights are out for me as I don't have any other people who can look after my daughter. My hubby is in the military and spends alot of time away from home so I can't rely on him to look after our daughter either. Hopefully once we move interstate and get settled I will be able to come up with a better plan. I've started looking at TAFE courses in Adelaide and that may be a better option for me as I start next year and that gives me 6 months to find full time day care for my daughter. Thanks again for all the help.
