    Talking Baby Hammocks

Does anyone out there have a baby hammock? I popped the dude into one at my morning yoga class and he just fell straight asleep. The one I mean hangs from a big spring and so it gently bounces up and down.

Boy, I could go one of them!

Anyway, back to the reason why I am asking, I am just wondering about the practicality of them. As you have to hang them from something sturdy, you can't exactly take them everywhere. I am a bit concerned that if he starts to use one that he won't settle without it! I am also wondering if they are okay for babies to be left in unattended. My little man is four months now, so I still try to follow the SIDS guidelines. I am not sure how these hammock rate.

I am kind of excited because this hammock just worked like magic this morning!

    Hi Alison,

Firstly I LOVE the name Luka it is soooo cute!

Secondly I bought a baby hammock for O (as I have used one at work with newborns and little bubs and they worked like a dream )

However O hated the hammock so its sitting in the garage waiting for me to have bub number 2 and see if they like it LOL

At work we use the hammock for newborns up until the age of 6 months, as when bubs start rolling over it becomes unsafe for obvious reasons.

That said it depends on how big and how active your bub is I do know of one bub that used the hammock until she was 8 or so months casue she was small and not yet mobile.

If they are good quality then they should meet australian standards and be very safe for bub to use.

Our baby hammock is the Amby Baby nest hammock and the company is based in QLD. I bought mine second hand for $150 the retail for about $400

Hey guys, thanks a lot for your help. I looked up the website Oscar's mum and like you said Orlando's mum, it's only for babies up 'till about 6-9 months. I don't think I will get one as Luka is almost five months and I guess he will be rolling over soon.
Tee hee, if I got one now I would have to go out and have another few babies in order to get my money's worth!!!

ps thanks for saying you liked Luka's name! That made my day
