If you like Thomas, I don't see the problem. Your husband could always use Tommy as a nickname, I wouldn't give him Tommy as a full name.

I love 'Tommy'...if you like Thomas then have that on the birth certificate so then you'll be happy and then Dad can have his special name for your son too.

It's a great name...reminds me of a wonderful song by a fabulous band...

I know someone who has twins and one is called Tommy... It's not Thomas, just Tommy... Wasn't too keen on it at first but its grown on me and he is ever so cute...

I like the idea of Thomas on the birth certificate, and Tommy as your DH's nickname for your future son. That's cute.

As for Tommy as his formal full name, I don't like it much. It is a bit babyish and I can't see it on a grown man.

I have a Thomas, so obviously I love that name.

I agree with you about Tommy, I don't like it, or worse still Tommo . So far everyone has respected my wishes and not shortened Ds' name, although I can accept Tom as a nickname and assume that's what he'll probably get once at school.

I like Thomas better. It's a name that won't sound funny young or old whereas Tommy sounds a bit babyish and I prefer more masculine names for boys.

He can use Tommy as a nickname.

Yeah, I agree!! I think Tommy as a nickname while he's little is reallly cute!!

Not a fan for Tommy for a grown man, but as he gets older his nicknames will change. I have a cousin Thomas (gorgeous guy by the way, so I have good vibes on that name), and as he's getting older he gets called Tom more than anything!!! good luck

Thomas is better and you're hubby could call him Tom or Tommy as a nn, there are a few names I like where I don't really like the nick name.
