    Default Appreciative children

Ok, this might seem like a really stupid question, but how do you teach a child to be appreciative? Is it something they learn from appreciative role models or are there definate lessons to learn?
Like appreciating their toys for example. How do you teach them to take care of them and not say throw them across the room?

i think the key is not to have too many toys in the first place. if they mistreat a toy then lock it away and they can go with out it for a period of time.
