Default Rub her belly in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction

    Hi,

My bubs is one of those treasures who has decided that she's going to be one of those babies who poo once a week on average (she's fully b/f). She gets pretty uncomfortable around day 6 usually and goes of her feeds etc. I know that rubbing her belly helps and I always thought that you were supposed to do it in an anti-clockwise direction, but last week at Gymbaroo the teacher said to aid in digestion rub in a clockwise motion....so which way is it?

    Thanks...

i just rubbed in one direction at a time to settle beth. i did't do it always in a particular direction sometimes i went clockwise and other times anti-clockwise. - you can try pushing the legs up too in a kinda bike-riding motion.

when i did my massage course, they said to ALWAYS massage in clockwise direction because anti clockwise can cause constipation etc.
clockwise encourages digestion and gets things moving.

doing it anti clockwise can possible hinder what u are trying to do!

Definitely clockwise as that's the direction that things move naturally. As mentioned, rubbing anti-clockwise can increase the chance of constipation.

Bicycling the legs works well too.

I was told clockwise as well by a midwife.

Apparently that's the way the intestinal track runs.

you should rub clockwise as this is the natural direction in which the bowel moves, basically rubbing anti clockwise is trying to push it all back the wrong way. also another thing you can try with her is bicycle motions with her legs to help too
