    Question Tetra Snuggle Bed

    Hi
I was just wondering if people on Bubhub use or have used Tetra Snuggle Bed for their babies and what they are like?
I have been looking at a few on eBay but just have some questions that the sellers dont seem to want to answer
Can normal cot sheets fit on these beds? I was wondering because of the bumpers on the side and assumed they came off.
    Do they fit normal cots?
Would you recommed them or are there any other cot mattress' you would recommend?
    Thanks Sarah

    Hi!
I used one for about the first 3 months for my DD. Until she got too big for it. We used it inside the cot, ontop of the matress. You can buy covers for the snuggle bed, then what we did was put the bub in and then tuck the cot sheets and blackets round it like as if you were making a bed. She stayed nice and snuggly. I would also recommend you putting a spare cloth nappy or something like it between the snuggle bed and it's cover incase bub is sick or has an accident tho. As you can't wash the snuggle bed, just be spot cleaned. Hope this helps.

to me, they don't look very safe from the SIDS point of view the recommendations are for firm matresses.

The snuggle bed is made from Tea Tree Barks, so It's breathable incase bub's face goes into it.

We used a snugglebed, loved it, it was a lifesaver for us.

We put it in the cot, on the lounge, basically we took it instead of portacot for first 3/4 months.

We used a fitted cotsheet over the top.

Will be using it with this one too.

I used one for my DD for the first 4 months, she loved it. I borrowed it off my SIL and now my cousin is using it for her DD. My mum made extra covers for it so that what we used. I also had a bassinet size matress protector under the sheets and a cloth nappy on top of the sheets cause DD was a spewy baby.

It's good in the way that you can take it anywhere and the baby knows their own scent and can smell it in there so as far as they know they're always at home in bed. I just had it in the cot but some nights when she was so unsettled I'd out the snugglebed on my bed, that way she was happier and I knew she wasn't going to go anywhere or I wasn't going to roll on top of her. Well worth the money.

You may not have been able to see properly in the photos perhaps, but these are not actual cot matteresses that fit where a cot matteress normally sits- they are bassinette size for a little baby to feel snug without you having to buy a basinette for them to start off with. So you still need a cot matteress.
I personally havn't had one but I have seen them around and they look like a nice way to keep baby snug and not look so lost and tiny in a huge cot!

Because they are made from tea tree bark and are firm and breathable, I thought that they were actually endorsed by SIDS? Could be wrong though. But I don't think that they have been associated with an increased risk in cot death.

I believe they are endorsed by the SIDS lot. We used one for DD for a bout the first 4 months.

You cant use cot sheets only the ones specifically made for it.

As someone else pointed out you can put it inside the cot or like us we used it in the front room.

We found it a lifesaver in the early days.

    Very conflicting advise.

I was told not to use one as they aren't SIDS approved due to the high sides, which goes in hand about using cot bumpers.
And although the filling is breathable, it also promotes asthma.
