Default Poor dd....I feel so guilty

I feel like such a bad mummy right now. Every night after her bath I carry dd into her bedroom to get dried and dressed. I never let her walk because I am afraid that she will slip over.

Well tonight I just couldn't carry her, the belly is just too big and I am so sore. Well I took princess out of the bath and stood her on the mat to drip dry for awhile, and before I could grab her she took off on a nudie run. Her giggles soon stopped as she went for a giant slip, fell backwards and bumped her head.

I feel so bad and I'm nearly in tears. Guess I just needed to get it off my chest. I can't help but feel guilty.

Don't feel bad. It has happened to me many times. DS1, who is 3 still falls over after getting out of the bath as he just does the bolt on us. Big for you.

The same thing happened to my DD today but it was on the way into the shower. She was so keen to get in that she ran into the cubicle and slipped over and banged her head. It happens all the time. The other accidents we had at our house today were DS whos 4 twisted his ankle on the trampoline and later in the day ran head first into a wall while tormenting his sister and then trying to run away while still looking behind him! And DD whos 2 (and slipped in the shower earlier in the day) was climbing the fence and slipped and bit her lip which then went on to bleed heaps and freak her out cos of all the blood! Poor little thing. We seem to have lots of these type of incidents in our house but I guess that comes from having 3 very active little preschoolers here. I'm sure you're DD will be fine and good luck with #2!

dont feel to bad (i know you still will anyway but thought i would say it) hannah falles over all the time because of her funny feet, i always feel bad, and feel i shoud have done something, but the truth of it is that she is going to fall no matter what, sometimes i will be there and sometimes i wont, and everytime i will feel bad for it. but they are fairly tuff even tuffer than we think

As many of the others have said don't feel so bad. DD1 cannot walk yet but she has this habit of tipping her water from her sippie cup out onto the floor (sometiems tiles) and well, she will go for a fast crawl and go for a slip and slide which scares her. It happens and soon enough your DD will learn (hopefully and eventually) not to run with wet feet

Thanks ladies for trying to cheer me up. I know that accidents do happen, but mother guilt is such a powerful thing.

Corriene, what a day you've had. I would be in a heap on the floor! I take my hat off to you.

Don't beat yourself up too much...accidents happen and you will remember LONG after DD does...
It was not your fault....it was an ACCIDENT
You know what, I deserve better. I will stand up and out of your shadow, I will feel the wind in my wings, I will learn to fly, you can stay and enjoy my freedom or leave, either way I was born to fly.
