Default HELP my yard is full of poo

We recently adopted a 3yo staffy x mastiff to keep our weimeraner company. She's a great dog but has a habit that I can't break - she poos everywhere. Because we got our first dog young we were able to train her to poo in the back corner of the yard but this new dog insists on doing her business in the worst places (like outside the back door and next to her kennel).

Please, please PLEASE - does anyone have any ideas/methods on how to get a dog to poo in one specific spot (other than taking her there to poo cause it just hasn't worked).

Sorry, I don't really have any advice but it does bring back memories for me. I had two great danes so you can imagine how much poo they produced a day!! My ex and I used to take turns every day to clean the yard. It wasn't until we bought acerage that they started pooing right down the back of the block .

So....maybe you need to move to the country lol!!

Thanks for the suggestion - I totally understand what you mean about having to do poo patrols as our girls are quite large and create enormous piles of the stuff LOL

    Hi there,

Had a couple of suggestions, You can buy a couple of different products to get them to
a)go in a particular spot or
    b) stop them from going in a particular spot.

There is a spray you can get called house breaker, comes in a concentrated dropper from as well but i find the spray is easier. You can use it outside on a small dirt mound or on a few pieces of newspaper first to get the dog used to the pherimones in the spray. This will eventually attract them to go in a particular spot. I also find that rewarding them with small treats when they do go in the right spot will definately speed up the learning process! haha. The other thing you can do whilst training him to go in the right place is to use a repellant like ' Get of my Garden' which comes in a granulated form or alternatively you could use anything that has citronella scent as dogs and cats cant stand the smell. You can find this stuff at most Pets Paradise stores. Anyway good luck, i know how annoying is it !
