Default Fish ate other fishes Right "arm" totally off!

Had a fish for ages... but his friend died, so on hte weekend, I got him a new friend.

Turns out, his new friend was more of an enemy.

Last night, I went to check on them (I thought tehy had been showing some courting behaviour... turns out, one was just trying to kill the other!) and noticed that my original fish (Charles) had one of his side-fins TOTALLY GONE! The other fish must have eaten it (he also had signs of being bitten on hte head too!).

I wasn't sure how the fish would do, so I removed the MEAN new fish (Diana) into her own tank so that poor Charles wouldn't have to have anything else eaten off.

This morning though, I got up, and poor Charles was floating belly-up in his tank.

Stupid new Diana fish - HATE HER. I've never really LOVED my fish, but I suddenly felt so sad and upset when I saw poor Charles' fin eaten off... he was working with all his might to stay upright using just the one side-fin.

Found out online that Charles was a "fancy" goldfish... and Diana was more 'Common'... so that's why she may have tried to kill him (I dunno why they do it, but I jsut read about it online).

At least I know better for next time. I'll hopefully get a much bigger tank soon and only put fantails in there... Diana can stay in her own little fishbowl forever.
I've now lost 36kg thanks to the gastric sleeve!

kea's mum - Actually, Charles' previous rooming-in fish partner WAS called Camilla. They were my two original fantail fish. I got them about the time Charles and Camilla hooked up... and just named them that.

Then I ended up with a fat orange fish I named Fergie (but she died really quickly).

Then I got the comet (Diana) and a little sucker fish I named Paul Burrell... the guy off Australian Princess who's supposed to have been Princess Diana's butler or something (since the sucker fish's sole job is to clean the tank...lol).

We had a couple of fish which were nasty to our other fish, so we punished them by putting them in the bin to die next to the fish they had killed.

Maybe a bit demented, but we didn't have any problems after that!
