Default I'm hurting like hell....over did it at the gym :(

Ok, I did a Body Pump class yesterday morning at the gym (the one were you use the weights during the entire class)...now I had the lowest weight's possible.....and despite the fact I loved the class....MY THIGHS ARE IN AGONY - too many lunges....other than putting deep heat on them...is there anything else that will help reduce my sore mussles?

I'm having trouble getting in and out of the car...sitting with DS at his little table...and sitting down on the toilet

You could try having a hot bath with a couple of handfuls of epsom salts - basically it's magnesium, which helps to relax the muscles. If you can't find it at the supermarket it's available at feed shops.

And you could try a massage with Clary Sage - it's an anti-spasmodic (as long as you're not pregnant).

Hope they settle down soon - my thighs are quivering in sympathy for you - ouch!

can you get a massage? thats the best thing, and also, try to keep exercising. I know what you are going through, my trainer upped my weights on friday and we did some bloomin intense stuff. I couldnt really bend over til today without pain.

    did you stretch properly afterwards?

I walked on the treadmill everyday. it does help I promise.

dont forget, to avoid lactic acid build up, drink plenty of water before, during and after any exercise. and if your beginner, dont do weights more than 1-2 times a week(eg once monday once thursday)

ooohhh thanks...I might try both those things tonight....

DS dropped his dummy before and I had to get him to crawl under the cot and get it for me because I just could bend down that far

Emevity....I'm contemplating whether to go to the gym tomorrow night...was just going to walk on the treadmil and do some upper body weights....yeah, we did stretch before and after the class...I think it just felt too good doing the class that I got way ahead of myself and didn't think of the consequences.

    Hey there

Is this the first one you have done in a while? Pump always makes you sore the first time you do it - no matter how light you go!! WHen I came back to teaching it after DD I was really sore the first time....

Baths and everything, as everyone else said - also taking flaxseed oil can help to reduce soreness. SOrry to say but you may find that it is worse tomorrow - 48 hours is generally the time when the worst soreness sets in.

On the upside, if you continue to do pump regularly, you wont get this sore again - it is never as bad as that first time!!! Having said that, if I am sore after a workout I am like "YES!!" .....at least you know you've done somehting!!

I would recommend doing some cardio exercsie pretty soon, get everything moving....try to hold off the weights until your muscles have recovered....when you train you tear muscle fibres and you need to let them repair to avoid overuse injuries but also to get maximum results...when your mscles are repairing, they are also growing! ie...making you more toned

Anyway, I have rambled on!!! LOL.....hope you feel better soon

I always find a spin class helps! lol If you can try and go out for a walk...it does help relax the muscles and stretch! It's so important to stretch properly!!

oh, no, that's just what my sister told me on the phone

i'm going swimming tomorrow at a friends house...so hopefully that will help and I'll try and do some cardio at the gym too...if I can walk down the stairs to get there lol!!!

i just had a nice warm bath with some epsom salts and took some panadol...they feel a little (like a really little bit) better.

I suppose they do say "no pain, no gain".
