    Default Tandem Feeding

    Hi there,

Just a question about tandem feeding.

I'm attempting to tandem bottlefeed my twins and am after some advice on positioning. I just can't seem to find a comfortable position that they are comfy and my comfy.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks.

I am breast feeding and purchased a twin pillow... it is also great for bottle feeding apparently-the cradle position allows both hands to be free, and you can burp them individually with out too much disturbance.
I love the back support, it made me realise how much I was slouching and why my back was aching so much.

I found it on www.twinsane.com.au , its inflatable so great for travelling( not that we leave the house much!!)

    good luck

What Nichole said about the feeding pillow. I got a FANTASTIC one that I recommend to every one - it is called an Ezi2nurse I think and is available in Australia from DoubleBlessings. I used it to b/f but it would be perfect for bottle feed as well.
Never miss a good chance to shut up.

I have to say the pillow too! I have used it for breastfeeding but no reason you can't use it for bottle feeding.

How do you burp on the pillow? Is the pillow wide enough to be able to roll them over onto their tummys for example without picking them up.

I always sit bub up to burp but I don't see any reason you couldn't roll them over.

Sorry for the late reply as I am trying to work out methods to tandem bottlefeed. I'll try and describe it for you...

    I do it several ways...

    * in their rockers. I sit on a pillow on the floor (and leaning back against the lounge) between both rockers, with their heads closest to me. Their rockers are facing outwards. I then hold both bottles side by side. I prefer this as it's easier on the wrists.

    * in the cot or on the floor. Their feet face either end of the cot and their heads are almost touching. I sit in a chair holding their bottles. It's a bit hard on the back and underarms as the cot side is a little too high or the chair a little too low. On the floor sitting cross legged, feet goes to sleep and feels numb. Hehe...

I'm sure you'll find something that works for you.

When I had my twins 11 years ago I didn't have much help so I what used to do was lay them on the floor on a quilt folded in half, prop them up a bit with pillows and sit in the middle of them and feed them that way. When they were little I was able to sit cross legged with them in my lap and feed them that way. I bottle fed my twins.

That is how i bottle feed my boys, either that or one in the rocker and one in my lap. I also use the Podee hands free bottle quite a bit when i'm on my own with all the kids. i put one in the rocker with the hands free bottle and i feed the other with the regular bottle. I usually give them both a few short breaks in between for burping.
Us and them, life is perfect........

the 'ezi 2 nurse pillow i have is def wide enough to roll one over to burp. it has a belt that you clip around your waist so its nice and secure and doesnt slip away. It has an inbuilt curve so bubs naturally rool towards you. i usually burp one while the other is still feeding, or put one up on the shoulder to burp. it is best used sitting on a 3seater lounge or on the floor with your back against something. the little pillow back support keeps you sitting up and prevents slouching. (again I breast feed but i can imagine bottle feeding on this pillow would allow for some beautiful bonding time! xxx)
