    Default two consecutive miscarriages

have any ladies had successful pregancies after miscarrying more than twice? Did you still bleed in the successful pregnancy - did you ever find out what caused the miscarriages?

    Hi Jessica,

I have only had one miscarriage and had a successful pregnancy afterward.

I have also had 2 friends who had had 2 consecutive miscarriages and then went on to have a successful pregnancy.

It's a tough question as most miscarriage causes are not investigated until there have been 3 in a row. Without knowing what caused it, it makes it so hard for us to address it, doesn't it ? Unfortunately it's sometimes all a bit of a mystery.

Wishing you the very best of luck !

    Hi Jessica.
I had 2 early miscarriages and now have my beautiful daughter. So it is possible and even common. When I was preg the 3rd time and doing my medical history with my ob, she didn't even blink at the news of 2 prev m/c. I did spot early on in my 3rd (successful) pregnancy, at around the 6.5 week mark. Very similar to how my first 2 m/c started. But my GP was great and got me an ultrasound right away - he could tell how upset I was.

As Rynosmum said, usually the cause isn't investigated until you've had 3 m/c. I suspect my 2nd was aggravated by stress, flying overseas and massive physical exercise with work (hiking up and down hills, 14 hour days and 40+ heat), but even if I'd been flat on my back it might not have stuck.

    Hi Jessica
I've had one stillbirth and 2 miscariages and am constently thinking, 'am I ever going to hold a health little baby of my own'. As rynosmum and Matha have said, it is common to have 2 miscarriages and to then have a successful pregnancy after. Hopefully it will happen soon for us that want it so badly

I had a miscarriage and then fell pregnant with twins, miscarried one but successfully kept the other to term and ended with a beautiful healthy daughter
She was touch and go aswell so we are quite lucky to have her to term, but be assured there is light at the end of the tunnel!

    Jessica,

I am so sorry for your loss and I feel your pain. I was nearly in the same predicament as you, but then this pregnancy has all of a sudden turned for the better. So if I can give you hope of experiencing something similar in up and coming pregnancies you will experience, as they don't always turn out badly and there is hope, especially as far as the bleeding goes!

But just to give you some hope, this is my experience. My first pregnancy was twins, I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks 4 days and had a scan as I had been discharging brown for the past week and a half. There was nothing in one sac and a slow cardiac hb of 109bpm in the other sac (which they told me was slow). They were monitoring me with HCG and it didn't appear to be increasing much. At 7 weeks I went back for a scan and no longer a hb. So believe the HCG was telling the story.

This pregnancy I have brown/and a little red discharged from 5 to 8.5 weeks, where my HCG was monitored and scans performed every 10 days. All appeared like it was going well and then at nearly 12 weeks I woke at 3 am in the morning in a pool of red blood. I then proceeded to pass a clot the size of my palm in the toilet and I cramped. I was admitted to hospital and they thought I had m/c, but again all appeared ok as it was early in pregnancy. I am now 16 weeks and haven't been brown discharging for 2.5 weeks and have been told by the gyno there is a very slim chance I would loose the baby now.

So in conclusion, bleeding during pregnancy is not really good, but then it isn't always bad either. And I guess I may even just be a bleeder???? As there may have been other problems with my last pregnancy, as I have discharged again and all is ok. But it is hard to know and not to compare and even think that bleeding is good with all the horror stories you read.

There is a good pregnancy magazine with a story on bleeding during pregnancy, if you are interested I will locate it for you.

    Hope this helps!

    Dear Jessica,

I fell pregnant with my first child within 5 months. I fell pregnant with my second child in 5 months and lost it at 7 weeks. I then fell pregnant with my third child in 5 months and carried it to term with no bleeding.

I can understand the worry you are experiencing. Even after only having one miscarriage I grieved badly for my loss. I guess I thought that after successfully having a child that I was invincable.

My doctor told me that a miscarriage is usually to do with a mismatch of chromosomes, so your body rejects the foreign cells. That is what I was told and it didnt make me feel much better.

My cousin is now pregnant after 3 miscarriages and this is due to fertility drugs to assist.

Dont loose hope. I planted a miniature rose bush in my garden to represent my loss and it gave me some closure. Although I didnt know the baby I had to get over all the could of, should of, would of's.

    I wish you luck
    Valleymum
