We have wireless internet, its great. Only cause I can sit with the laptop anywhere and get on the net. Great to move away from the kiddies and hub if need be . We went through bigpond, never had a prob with them and we get the deals from having home phone and mobile as well. Itcosts us $35 month at the moment as we have it half price for the first 12 months. We also got the modem as part of the package, I think it was around $170 for it but we got that half price too. Im sure most providors do around the same packages, and most of them all have web pages you could look at for prices ect.

The actual service you get is the same as a 'wired' connection its just the hardware you need that is different. Your laptop or PC needs a 'wireless access card' and you need a wireless modem/hub/router, depending on how you are going to set it up.

Technically you can buy the equipment yourself but you may have trouble setting it up so best to go through an IT business or ISP (if you are connecting a new account up).

If your computer has wireless capabilities you shouldnt need to. I think if it doesnt you buy some sort of card to plug into it. Actually we got a little pen looking type thingy you plug into a usb port on your computer if you dont have wireless capabilities and that picks up the signal. our modem looks much like a normal modem but with an antena, we just plug it into the power and the phone line. We have adsl I think so it goes through the phone line but that all happened over the phone when we got the deal.
