Watered down sugar soap and a white cloth works a treat. I keep a watered down bottle of the solution in my cleaning cupboard.

I second the watered down sugar soap suggestion and the orange power spray. Both of these have worked brilliantly for me

Orange power? Is that a carpet spray or the normal orange power cleaner? I have vomit stains on the carpet also, which I've tried everything, nothing seems to work.

Yep just the ordinary orange power multipurpose cleaner. You would be amazed what citrus sprays can really do.
