    Hi Jess

Probably best to contact your local IVF clinic and ask them - both a clinic's readiness to treat single women and whether they run a donor conception program will vary.

Costs also vary from clinic to clinic, state to state and a basic IVF cycle can cost anything from $5000ish in Queensland to $10,000ish in Sydney - the Monash site has a schedule of fees on their website for an idea of what you are up for. Also depends on what your health plan will pick up for you and what Medicare will rebate.

Sorry not much help but is such a case-by-case basis.

    xx

    Hi Jess

I don't know where you live but both QFG and City Fertility will treat single women in Queensland. An egg donor cycle is $4000 so it should be less than that.

You might not need IVF, unless you have fertility problems your best trying

    1. finding clinic and having artificial insemiation, on a natural cycle. If that doesn't work

    2. take clomed and have either AF on an natural cycle or IUI (Inter uterine Insemiantion) this is where the sperm is placed via a catheter into the uterus.

If these do not work you would then go on to IVF, also if these don't work you will be considered as havnig fertility problems and will get a medicare rebate, which you won't if you have IVF without proven fertility problems

maybe someone can answer me this, how likely is a single mum going to be able to get donor sperm? I thought it was really hard to get if you were single?

If you choose a clinic that has no problem they a single woman is treated exactly the same as a married woman. I know of a few pregnacies of single women since i joined the forum.

It is a matter of finding the clinic that treats you as they would a couple.
