Hey there not sure if this is in the right area, however I am having my little boy sat on friday night, by a friend's daughter and I was just wondering what is the going rate for babysitting these days?

I'd say about $10.00 an hour is average. Depends though. How old is the babysitter?

I think it depends on the age, experience and any qualifications of the babysitter.

When I was 14 to 18ish and used to babysit it was around $10, negotiable. Now that I have Early Childhood Qualifications, First Aid training and a heap of experience, I still do a bit of babysitting from time to time but ask for a bit more.

I would pay a teenager $10.00 per hour. If it was someone with more experience i would expect to pat $15 - $18 per hour.

I work for a babysitting agency in Perth and we charge $15 per hour, but keep in mind we are all over the age of 18 and all have experience, police clearance, drivers license and medical cetificate!

And we are one of the cheapest in perth !

when i was looking after a friends 2 children i would get around $50 but i would pick them up from day care at 4 and would have them untill about 8pm, i would do this 5 nights a week, so for me who was at school at the time that was a good earning of $250 per week
