    Default Scar/Wound Breakdown...

Well ds is nearly two next month...

And for over 12months, i had a wound breakdown, where i had a hole along my scar, that went 7cm deep into my stomach, each day i was having it packed with a wick to draw the stuff out..etc...

Well til this day it still weeps a bit, the gp says that it has closed... But the way it has healed, has left a fold in it, where there is room, for it to still weep... The hospital i had damien in, refuses to give me another op to put me back under and sew me up, they said it will just risk it happening again, as it needs to heal from the inside out... (Hope this is making sense)

My point of this is... I'm worried then when i fall pregnant again, it might re-open.. Has anyone else had any alike situtions??

    TIA
    Alicia

hi Alicia, I haven't had anything like that happen. But it seems like a long time for healing. Stating perhaps the obvious but have you thought of going for a second opinion?
Perhaps (if you have not already done so) you contact a caesarian support group who may be able to give you some assistance?
Sorry not much help really. But I hope you find some answers soon

That sounds painful. My scar opened up but nothing like what you're describing.

I would definitely be getting a second opinion. Are you on antibiotics?

I'm not on any anti- med's. I have seen three different doctor's, one of them being the surgeon that actually did my c-section. They have all said that it has healed the best that it will, it is closed over, but still a slight gap, that will leak a bit of ooze, now and then, esp when im lifting heavy things etc..

At the time of seeing them, i never asked about falling pregnant again, coz it was the LAST thing on my mind....

Think i will sort my cr@p out this week, and get in and get answers! Just thought maybe someone else out there, had been thru it aswell!!

    You poor thing
2 years is a LONG time - it just doesn't sound normal!
But you have seen a few docs, so I don't know...

Is the unhealed bit just the outside (ie. the skin), or do you think it's the unside (ie. your uterus) as well?

firstly, big because that doesnt sound like you have been having an easy time in the slightest.

Have you tried Zinc and/or Vitamen E supplements orally? These are wonderful for their healing properties . You can pick these up from the chemist, healthfood shop, and probably even the supermarket. I took Vitamen E after my 1st c/sec, and Zinc after my 2nd one, and my scar sealed up really quickly.

Another thing to try might be homeopathics....I have never tried this myself, but I have heard rave reviews......

I'd try the zinc, vit E, homeopathics AND get a referral to a surgeon for an opinion as well.

It sounds like you have had an appalling time.

Yeah, once we found out there was a midwifery service that came around to the house to change it, instead of being at the doctor's everyday... They told me to get the Vit e and Zinc, and they worked wonders, they say you can hardly see my scar at all (I don't want to even look, i hate it, because of the all the grieve i've had!)

It has healed from the inside out.. put there is about a 1/2 cm gap from where it has stop on the inside to where it meets the out side skin (Does that make sense)

Thanks for all the thoughts and adivces, i REALLY appericate!!!!

That's disgraceful! I would be demanding the hosp where you had the C/S to fix it up completely NOW. It really freaked me out when I read your thread, your scar taking so long to heal and healing with a gap sounds really wrong, Can you go to another hospital or a skin specialist to see if there is some sort of infection preventing it from healing properly.

That's so awful, to you and I hope it gets better.
