    Default HELP!!! Itchy legs

This is a bit of a strange question and I hope i don't disgust anyone... I have got the lovely hairy gene from my dad, and after shaving for a for years my hair on my legs grows back within a couple of days... i have waxed/epilated for numerous months now... and just as my hair starts to grow i get seriously itchy and sometimes i can't help but scratch until i hurt myself. I've tried exfoiliating, cold packs, moisturising bt i dont know what else i can do to relieve the itch..

I am epilating every time i get the itch and although it hurts it almost feels good just getting rid of the itch, then my legs flair up and go all red, so i have to ice them.. i was up at 3am epliating coz i couldn't sleep! HELP!

You poor thing! nothing worse than itchy legs (but mine's mozzie bites!! )
Have you thought of investing in getting IPL (laser hair removal)? Itd cost a bit, but it'd be worth it-permanantly gone, no more regrowth, therefore bye bye itchy legs

For me it is because of two things: 1) I don't 'prepare' my skin for it. Meaning that I need to soak my legs and scrub them first to soften it all up. 2) I have a glycerin allergy so use QV lotion from the chemist. Most moisturisers contain glycerin and it can be very drying on some people.

I get itchy legs after shaving and sometimes after a few days when the hair starts to grow back and it's hot, it seems to flare up. Unfortunately i don't have an answer. I use cold packs, just sit with one between my legs to numb them and after i shower i always make sure i run ice cold water on my legs to prevent any itch.

It's awful isn't it. I think controlling it is the only answer. Oh and i try not to scratch, once i start i can't stop, it just gets worse...it's straight for the cold pack or cold water running on my legs.

    Hi there
I used to get EXTREMELY itchy legs after shaving and it got to the point where itching them just made it worse and I would be injuring myself.

I don't have any problems now as I follow a routine that works wonders. I can even use fake tans now and never use to be able to.

When shaving I only use Gillette womens razors and I throw them out after 2 uses. I use Gillette Satin Care Sensitive Skin Shave Gel instead of soap. I then exfoliate with water only (using an exfolient glove) and then moisterise with Dermaveen Moisturising Lotion for dry itchy or sensitive skin (you can get this at the chemist)

Good luck - I hope u find your solution. I know how much it can drive u mad!!!

Just a few suggestions and questions:

    1. What exfoliant are you using? Try one with fine granules and perhaps a glycolic in it. MD formulations face and body scrub is great. Oh and remember to wait 48 hours after waxing to do this.

    2. Have you tried rubbing a sorbolene or tea tree antiseptic into your legs morning and night? Maybe your moisturiser is causing the reaction and making your itching worse. Another thing good for itching is Cetaphil from the chemist.

    3. DONT SHAVE I am saying this as it causes your hairs to grow back thicker and coarser which could be causing the itching to get worse. Even tho you still have the itching I suggest continuing waxing as over time your hair will thin out in that area.

Speak to your beauty therapist, she will advise you on whether its a matter that may need to be referred to a dermatologist. You poor thing. I know what you mean, I get itchy when my underarm hairs are growing back in but exfoliating seems to help me.
