My advice would have been don't tell a soul you are even trying until you're 12 weeks pregnant!

Of course feel free to tell people who's opinion dosen't matter!

It's no-one elses business but your own! It's a very personal choice, and everyone is different, no-one is right or wrong when it comes to age gaps between kiddies.

I know what you mean about the drinking part - i used to get drunk at parties, and ofen have a wine or two with dinner, same as other friends. Some of them ahve asked me how can i not drink anymore, they couldn't give it up yet. But it is easy! As you said - you enjoy your family now more than a drink.

    Don't worry about them

I had 2 kids under 16mths by the time I was 21. Both of them were planned and boy oh boy did I get lots of comments!!
But we made the decision to have them close and we wouldn't have changed a thing. They are the best of friends, DS1 couldn't remember being an only child, I hadn't given away any baby stuff as I was still using it all.

You are the one who will be raising those babies, so if you want them close together, go for it.

And as for the drinking thing....since when does having alcohol in the bloodstream make someone a more "fun" person to be around??

Sounds like your sister doesn't get the whole motherly thing and that's her problem not yours. I agree with angel kisses that you don't need alcohol to have fun either. I haven't even had my first and I'm looking forward to having my 2nd, so I don't think it's unusual for you to want to try for #2. I have to go back to work for at least 12 months when #1 is a year old (long story), so I guess our first gap will be at least 2 years, but if something happens by accident earlier I doubt I'll complain!

geez we would have love to have fallen pregnant earlier!! AF didn't come back for 16 months!!! (thanks to breastfeeding)
But even still, with this pregnancy (the age diff will be just over 2 yrs) friends said "can't he keep it in his pants..."
I was hurt, but I know DH & I are so happy and excited to be having another bub and that's all that counts.
In one ear out the other *haha*

personally i couldnt do it. but there is 5 yrs age gap between mine and i cop comments such as either..its a shame hes not a girl so you can have one of each and b) now you have to go thru all the baby stuff again.
i like having 2 boys and i like the age gap so you see people will always comment. as long as you are happy with your decision thats all that matters

We are close to # 1 arriving, after discussing #2 the other night DH informed me we can start trying in March That is just a tad too much for me (#1 due 21st Jan) We would love to have them about 15 months apart, hopefully things go to plan.
Don't listen to anyone else-it is totally your choice.
No-one will be told when we are planning TTC.

    Good Luck!!!

we get this too. And the boys will be 2.5 when bubs is born.

I'm not looking forward to their reactions when we TTC #4... I'd really like a 15month -2 year age gap. same for #5 and #6

I think it's great having kids close together. I was close to my sister, and the boys are as close as you can get.... They have SOOO much fun together... it's so gorgeous to watch. My niece and nephew are close too, and they are the best of friends (DN was just 2 when Dniece was born)

Go for it! Good luck TTC #2
