Default DS won't poo in the toilet - its driving me crazy

    any advise would be appreciated.

My ds who has just turned 3, has been toilet trained now for a couple of months, but is still wearing nappies to bed - which is all good.

My problem is, he will not poo in the toilet, he will wait until he gets his sleep time nappy on and then do a poo. It's driving my crazy. Is this a normal thing for kiddies to do? My dd was quite happy to do poos in the toilet when she was trained. Any advise on getting him to use the toilet for this? Or should I wait a while?
    Cheers, Darlene

took me amost a year to get DS to poo in loo. but he does now. I just wait til he is fully asleep to put the night nappy on and get up earlier and get it off him as soon as he is up in morning. DD started toilet training and he copied her, sitting on toilet with a book. just keep putting him on there and telling him to poo.

my DS is delayed developmentally BTW so it will prob be easier for your son, good luck

I don't know if its normal or if all kids do it, but Hayley is the same (though shes younger and not full tt yet) she will sometimes do wees in the potty (or she'll sit in the potty then get up and take a whiz on the floor next to it ) but as for #2s she waits until her nappy is on. I noticed she was trying to do a poo last night (she had that look on her face) so I sat her on the potty and but she didn't like it. Then about ten minutes later I put a nappy on her just before bed and she decided to poo in it

They will learn in time I guess everyone keeps telling me to be patient.

A friend had the same problem with 2 of her girls. The first one she tried to force the issue (lost patience and just wouldn't put a nappy on her) and she ended up with huge constipation probs for ages (would only poo once every 5 or so days for at least 12 months) with her second one she's trying to encourage her, and at 3.5yrs old she has just started pooing on the toilet (has been P TT for a year). Will do it on and off.

Her little sister and her neice were the same???

Haven't given any advice - but it is normal.

Default Mine won't poo at all!!!

    Hi everyone,

Pooing in a nappy is sounding heavenly right now! My 2 year old won't poo at all - in the nappy or on the toilet.

She's number three and we were so excited when at exactly two years she pulled off her nappy and quite literally toilet trained herself overnight, long before we were even thinking about taking the nappies away. However, she won't poo and only goes every 3 or 4 days after several large doses of Coloxyl drops. When we can see she's desperate (hops about from one foot to the other and keeps clutching her bottom), we put her on the loo but she screams and cries for around half an hour before nature finally takes over. We've even tried putting a nappy on her just to get her to go but she won't do it there either.

On Sunday I took her to the doctor who informed me that she has an anal fissure (small tear) and that the best way to get it to heal is to get her regular. Easier said than done...

By the way, the only funny thing about this is that she came home and told her dad with great pride that "I've got a fish in my bottom!"

I would love some advice as this has now been going on for 4 months and is really wearing us out.
