    Default First birthday party help

What size of party do you generally have a first birthday?

I don't know whether to keep it to family only or invite all the bubbas we know to come.

Also, what sorts of games can you play?

IMO first Birthdays are better if kept to a small affair.. With too many guests your too busy running around to really focus on the Birthday Bubba. I think family and close friends is more than enough.

Games for a first birthday are a bit hard.. they are too young to understand.. I find setting up free play zones with activities such as a car mat with trucks, or a dolls play area, a large rug with toys like blocks etc.. A water play area, sand pit area and sand toys and if your really game a finger painting area.

I had 3 activities for DS's birthday and let the kids move from one to the next as they wanted.

    Hi

It depend on the ages of the kids you are going to invite.
For DS's 1st birthday I had about 12 kids come. Youngest being 3 months and oldest 3 1/2 years old. All the mums cames aswell so it wasnt like I had to look after all the kids by myself. My friend let me borrow her small jumping castle and we also had the sand pit and the cubby house and all my kids toys so that was enough to keep them busy all day.
We didnt do any games because the kids wouldnt understand. We had Pizza Hut for lunch and I bought a slab cake from Sara Lee for $15. For the cake I bought a plain vanilla, put a picture of elmo on it, and and covered it with 100's and 1000's and the kids loved it.

    Good luck with the party

We are having a BBQ at a park with a playground because there will be some older kids coming. We are having Family, friends and my mums group is coming with their bubs. I am making him a cake I have started making the animals today (out of sugar paste) so they will last for weeks less to do on the day.

I am bringing the meat and have asked everyone to bring a plate to share with them. I think that it will be easier that way and I don't have to clean up after everyone.
Doing housework with young children must be like clearing snow in a blizzard!!!
