Lucy, our elf, has been back since the tree went up. I'm not very creative, plus she needs to stay high out of the 2 year old's hands.

But here she is getting ready to make a coffee (or hot chocolate for the kids)..

Would anyone mind explaining elf on the shelf to me? The websites a little vague and I'm interested.

Every year Santa sends a scout elf to live with a family ( from 1dec to Xmas eve when he goes home with Santa) the elf watches to make sure you've been good and flys home every night to tell Santa what you have been up too all day, he usually gets home before we all wake up and gets bored so usually gets into mischief or causes trouble until you wake up and find him! It's really fun, I've done it since DS was 3 ( so this is our 3rd year) and this morning he woke up early and went straight to find Buddy!

Returned with an advent calendar and a book about his adventures last year.

Oh, I want to get in on the elf action this year! I visited my bestie with DS last December and he loved the elf at her house

Now I just need to source an elf ASAP! Where can I get one cheaply - do any of the big chain stores (Kmart, Big W) stock them?

Our elves are both back too! I don't have a photo but they took our calendar off the wall to say "we are back!" and brought a letter with them. I am already tempted to send them back to the north pole though because DD gets so excited that she sleeps poorly and wakes really early (she has autism and sleep is an ongoing issue). If it doesn't settle down in a week or so the elves might be leaving a goodbye letter

This does sound fun! Def something to consider when DS is older. Thanks! And I love the pics.
