    Default Vasectomy reversal

Hi, so i was on here 2 years ago when going through ivf ( due to dh having a vasectomy) and found everyone here very supportive, now im back in the game of ttc again this time dh is getting a vasectomy reversal.
Im 30, dh 36. I have 3 kids from previous relationship, dh has 2. We still really want one together.
Ivf was horrible. After all the stress, clinic visits 2 hours away, bt, needles...12 eggs taken, 1 made it and was transfered. Bfn.
We are booked in to see Dr Robert Woolcott for vr 9th Feb 2017. The waiting is killing us.
Anyone else been through reversal after ivf and what is your opinion and out come?

I have a friend go through the same (reversal then ivf) she fell pregnant on the 3rd transfer and had a great pregnancy. She found the ivf drugs tough but they wanted the baby. Sorry I don't have more detail.

My DH had his reversed and he has sperm antibodies. We have to do IVF now but makes it easier for him to give a sample to use for ISCI. It is always worth a try. Best of luck.

Hi Knaadams, I'm curious to see how much the RV costed?
My DH had a Vasectomy in 2011 after our 3 child, now I'm wanting another baby but not my DH!
I'm 31 & DH is 32 we are on the Gold Coast and we don't have private health cover.
I called the metro center and spoke to a receptionist that said IVF will cost $10000 and steered me towards a VR instead?
I'm leaning more towards a VR anyways.
Hope your DH is recovering well.

Hi mummabearof3kiddlets, we done ivf 3 years ago in kogorah, no private health insurance, all up costs about $12,000 we got $6,000 back. Thursday last week dh had vr in strathfield sydney with dr woolcott. He was amazing. Again no insurance, total cost $7,600 doc fee and hospital fees. We get just under $1000 back.
Its day 3 after opp now and dh is recovering well. His balls are still huge and bruised but his walking around alot more easily now with not much pain if he doesn't move around too much.

We are both somewhat young (30 & 36) and healthy, so feeling positive 😆 just have to wait 4 weeks to start ttc

Hi Knaadams, thank you for all your info it's very helpful as I haven't found a lot of info on prices on the web.
You must be so excited for the next season in your lives! Wishing your DH a speedy recovery and great swimmers!!!
I've got a long road ahead as my DH is completely opposed to the idea of a 4th child.

Looking forward to hearing of your BFP!!

My DH had a vasectomy some 15 years ago. When we saw our FS he advised us that the likelihood of a reversal being successful after such a long time was extremely low. He told us it would be his recommendation not to waste our money and to move straight on to IVF. Just thought that might be something for you to discuss with your Doctor in due course

We were also told by ivf specialist that as we were both young and healthy and previous children, that ivf was best for us. Gp told us the same so we went ahead with isci and it was terrible. I felt crap n stressed the whole time. BFN.Then we read up on vr and found that ivf before vr can harm chances of successful reversal.

Dr was very happy with dh vr opp, just hoping his swimmers are all good. Feeling positive.
I would recommend vr first, then ivf if it doesnt work.
