Default Please share your cervidil/prostine induction stories

I was just wondering if anyone has been induced this way and how it went? Also what is the difference between cervidil and prostine? What are the risks?
I'm 40+3 today and just had an apt with the OB. Being an ivf pregnancy they don't want me to go too far over. This is my 2nd bub. First one my waters broke before contractions started at 39+5 and 12 hours later they induced me with syntocin drip. Ended up with Epidural and vacuum delivery and episiotomy. Want to avoid all that this time that's for sure!!

This is the plan of action - going for a scan later today to check on bubs and placenta etc. All going well then on Thursday afternoon I need to come into maternity ward and they are going to insert some gel to try and ripen my cervix and get it ready for labour - I'll have to stay in overnight and they'll put in two lots of gel over that time (he said start with the lower dose first). Fingers crossed it kicks things off. It can either go a few ways....1. Nothing happens and I'll have to come back in a couple more days and try again or 2. I just go into labour normally or 3. It starts things off but then they will need to break waters for me and hook me up to syntocin drip

Hi ☺i had my daughter in july amd was induced using the cervidil tape. I was 40+5 & went in on the Wednesday afternoon. Tape was inserted not long after. Nothing happened lol i have a very high cervix which made it hard to get to. I then had the gel 3 times in total over the next 2 days. (I stayed in hospital the whole time) gel wasnt successful 1st 2 times due to cervix but third time lucky my contractions started early hours friday morning. They took me to the birthing suite, hooked me up to a drip at 9am and our daughter was born at 2:45pm. This is only my story, im sure u will be fine. The only reason i had trouble was because my cervix was so high and difficult to get to. Goodluck to you and your bubba ☺xo

I know the cervidil is like a tampon type thing that's inserted to try ripen the cervix, the cervidil is used if there's no sign of dilation/softening. I would think the prostine would be the gel that they use then? Does the same thing but used if you have signs of softening/dilation?
I had cervidil 3 times over the course of 3 days with DD1. They would remove it after 12 hours, check my progress then put it back in. I didn't progress fast at all, only got to 3cm by day 3 with contractions the whole 3 days but some how that was enough to break my waters and use the drip. DD1 was born on the 3rd day reasonably quickly in the end.

I had the gel and was induced at 39+1 with medical reason. Gel was put in 7:30am, they were going to put in more around 3 if nothing was going on, but was having some minor contractions, had my waters broken and Bub came at 11pm that night, so it was quite a long day. As you are overdue, yours might not take so long. I had an epidural cause the pain got crazy pretty quickly and I ended up with a vacuum extraction (medical reasons again - mine not bubs) and an episiotomy and small tear...id happily do again though
