    Default Constipation from infant Gaviscon

    Hi Ladies
Hope someone here can help me
My 5.5week old daughter was showing signs of silent reflux i.e. Gaging, chewing motion, spit up, arching back and being fussing at breast not eating for more than 3-5min at a time
I was told to give infant gaviscon and half ml of mylanta which we did 4 times since then she is now constipated and hasn't done a poo in more than 24hours where she used to dirty every nappy
I've stoped the gaviscon and was wondering how long is stays in there system with the thickened milk before poos start again she is obviously in pain and straining to go it breaks my heart I tried to fix 1 problem and made another for her
Anyone have experience with this or can tell me after stopping how long it took for their baby to be regular again.
Any advice would be welcome x

    Default Constipation from infant Gaviscon

This happened to DD around the same age
I gave her a dose of infant colloxyl and it helped within a couple of hours she was able to poop again

I then went to the doc and we got a script for Losec
That has helped her silent reflux with out any other side effects and we are now at the stage of weaning her off Losec at nearly 7 months.

Hugs to you it's so hard fixing one thing and then seeing them in pain with the remedy x

I would switch to a script medication. I'm using zoton but used to use losec.

Got the losec from paediatrician today and was advised to get the Karicare thickener for 2 feeds per day aswell
hopefully that helps and we get no side effects!
