Default Nursing & Midwifery students - chat thread.

This year I started my Bachelor of Nursing and thought I'd see how many other hubbers are studying nursing.

One exam and a clinical placement reflection to go and my first year is finished! One down, two to go.

Hello! Nursing student here as well. Semester one was great, had a one week placement and I got good marks for everything overall. Two exams next week and a 2 week placement starting the 24th which I'm looking forward to. I'll be in a renal vascular ward. Can't believe first year is almost over!

I can't believe the first year is nearly over!

My first placement was three weeks in a cardiac unit, loved it! Was a great mix of independent and patients requiring assistance. We were pushed to do admissions, falls risk and pressure risk assessments as well as general obs. I was lucky enough to follow one of my patients in while they had an angio and stents - amazing to watch. So very grateful my first placement was in a hospital.

Sat the last exam for my first year of study today! A reflection for my first clinical placement is due this week and then I have officially finished my first year of study.

I'm able to study one subject over the Christmas semester, so will be doing that to take the pressure off first semester next year.

How is everyone else going leading up to exams or end of year?

What area are you doing your masters in? I've just finished my first semester of a post grad honours programme. It leads into a masters but not sure that I'll get that far.

I am doing my masters in nursing education. It has been a hard slog - i hadn't studied in 15 years when i started it - so had to lesrn how to study externally - plus combine work, study, relationship & in the time I've been studying we've been married, & now 4 weeks off having first baby - there's been a lot of stress!

What are you doing your post grad in?
