    Default Sewing machine recommendations

    Hi everyone!
I was looking through the sewing thread and everyone's creations are so beautiful. I would really love to learn to sew and have been looking at sewing machines for a while but haven't bought any yet because I've been unsure about what's good and haven't wanted to waste my money.
What machines do you recommend for a beginner who hasn't sewn for about 10 years?

I am only a beginner my self and I had a janome which broke after 2 years. So after lots of looking around i purchased an Elna from spotlight (on sale $99) and its great. Only has a few basic stitches but thats all i need!
Maybe if you can got into spotlight or another sewing shop and fiddle with the machines on display.

Hay sketch, I have been sewing for years, I would recommend this elna (that's what I have) it has different stitch styles and is very beginner friendly. I bought that a few years ago and it has done so many jobs on it. I have really given it a work out recently as I made my wedding dress with it. The extra feet and bobbins are a good price too, and when they are on special at spotlight their even better
    Happy sewing

Mine is also an Elna from spotlight, original price was $200, on sale for $100 and I had a 40% off voucher so got it for $60! There's nothing I have wanted to do yet that my machine couldn't handle.

Mine is a Brother from Spotlight, it has all the basic functions but nothing too fancy. I'd love to upgrade to a computerised one down the track but my fairly basic machine was great for getting back into the swing of things when I first started back into sewing.
Hope to see some creations from you in the sewing thread soon!

I had a look in spotlight recently but as I was already overloaded with purchases for my macrame projects I got a bit overwhelmed and decided to leave it for another time but I did see a brother that looked okay. Can't remember if I looked at an Elna or not but by the sounds of it I should!
