    Default Prednisone whilst pregnant

Has anyone had advice from their doctor about taking prednisone whilst pregnant?

What do you need to take it for? Many IVF ladies take prednisolone for the first 12-15 weeks of their pregnancy for immune issues. I took it for the first 12 weeks of both pregnancies.
I think there may be some association with a slightly higher risk of cleft palate, so I wouldn't be taking it unless it was under advice from my OB or fertility specialist.

I have really terrible skin allergies and after five years, no doctor can help figure out what I'm allergic to. Prednisone is the only thing that gives me any relief, my wedding is next week and would prefer not to have a red swollen face. Tossing up what I should do, I am only 6 weeks pregnant as well so a little worried about taking it at such an early stage.

Is there a GP you could go to that deals with pregnancy? Or your dermatologist? Usually they have a colleague they can ring for advice if they are stumped. You will have to weigh up the risk vs. benefit of taking it (just like anything else in pregnancy).

I was on a low dose on and off through my pregnancy due to an auto immune disease. I was closely monitored by my specialist.
