My theory always was a family member accidentally killed her and they went to the extreme to cover it up. Either the jealous brother or maybe the perfect pageant Mum flipped out.

The undertones of the show is that the family came from money and hence people (DA office, etc) went soft on them (eg weren't formally/separately interviewed until 4 months after their daughter was killed).

I fell asleep just as they started showing the tapes from Burke's interviews, so I'll have to catch up today.

Did they discuss the possibility of long term sexual abuse lastnight? I googled yesterday after someone mentioned it yesterday and found this:
    http://jonbenetramsey.pbworks.com/w/...Sexual%20Abuse

I'm going out on a whim here, but they were at a party that night, weren't they? Could the abuser have done something at the party and that explains the unknown dna... totally separate from her death
Or could it have simply been from the lack of handling it like a crime scene? Did they say they tested everyone that was there when and after she was found?

I don't know what I think happened, but there were so many things that pointed to the family.

The parents were even given the police files prior to their interview. If they're innocent, I feel sorry for them because the handling of the case was such a sh*t show from the start and it makes it difficult to truly prove their innocence or catch the real killer.

They'd DNA tested around 100 people apparently. I don't think there was any evidence of sexual abuse. They had found DNA on her underwear but they showed last night that DNA can be on brand new underwear from the person who packaged it or stitched it.

In the link I posted, 4 specialists concluded that prior sexual abuse was likely from the autopsy findings.
I did see the packaged underwear testing, but the above was just a thought that crossed my mind. Probably far fetched and inaccurate 😏

I think they did talk about some of this evidence. I can't remember exactly what was said.

I don't think there was any evidence to show any abuse immediately prior to her death though.

Default The Case of JonBenèt Ramsey

The faecal smearing was hugely concerning to me. Burke may or may not have killed her but I think he has some massive issues. I found it quite concerning in his interview two weeks after she died that he wasn't really concerned with JonBenet's killer coming back for him because he's moved on with his life. I have a 9 year old boy who is terrified someone could get into our house and hurt one of us. That really struck me as being odd. Also the undisturbed cobweb in the corner of the window was interesting.

The theory that Burke killed his sister (accidentally) and the family tried to cover it up is the most plausible conclusion.

One moment that I found quite significant was when Burke was presented with the picture of the glass and bowl of pineapple on the table. He went from being cool and casual to very nervous. He knew exactly what was in that bowl and he couldn't bring himself to say it.

What made me so sad (if this theory is correct) is the lack of dignity they treated their deceased daughter with. Taping her mouth, tying her little hands and putting a garrote around her neck? What a hideous charade.

I don't think we'll ever know the truth, sadly. John and Burke will take this to the grave.

I agree with this. But by them covering it up they have made an accident a life long burden. He can never be free now. His parents basically built him a prison by trying to protect him
