Default Twins - one stopped growning at 6 weeks

Hi, so i just had an 8 week dating scan and found out I actually had twins. One was 8 weeks perfect size and strong heartbeat but the other wee bean stopped growing at 6 weeks. I am feeling really sad but mostly worried about any complecations relating to this situation. Sonographer said usually just gets reasorbed or squished by the growing one. any advuce greatly appreciated.

Yes this happened to me! I found out it was twins around 6 weeks then at 12weeks one twin had stopped growing at 10 weeks. I definitely understand your concerns but I went on to have a very uneventful pregnancy and now have a very healthy active 2 1/2 year old. Apparently this is quite common and often you never know unless you have that early scan. I had had a miscarriage a few months previous and was 41 years old so was pretty worried, but I think all pregnant mummas have a little worry voice in their mind..

I believe the other baby absorbs everything and I experienced no bleeding or anything. However my daughter was 10 pounds 8 at birth so I like to believe she had an extra dose of goodness from her twin.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and I am sorry for your loss. I do still think about the twin

Eta: I just looked at your history and saw a post about your intense morning sickness, now you know why....I was the same
