Default Has anyone created an app?

I have an idea! My preliminary search shows there isn't an app for this idea. Has anyone been involved in creating an app?

Where on earth would I start?

My partner is a software engineer... Does lots of apps. It depends somewhat on what kind of app. There are some apps where you could get away with something very basic, but if you want it to be commercially successful then it generally needs to be well designed and well implemented. There's a lot more to that than there seems... And there's a reason why professionals are paid a lot for what they do.

The most cost effective way to get a well-made app would be to pay an overseas developer... There are sites where you can find the right person for the job.

You could pay a local developer, but that could get very pricey depending on how complex it needs to be.

Alternatively you could make it yourself, but it does depend what your intended outcome is. As I say, for commercial success, most ideas need to be really well implemented. Keep in mind that any good idea which isn't well implemented will be quickly outsold by a copy-cat app that's better made.

Do not feel disheartened. Is the current app a decent app? If not, you can always make a super awesome app od the same thing.

a friend of dh's created an app. it's a lot of work and expense (you need to pay s developer/programmer unless you have mad skills yourself) and there's no guarantee of any of it paying off. you get such a small amount relative to the outlay required.
