I read your first post to my DP.. Then @Tahli's reply... Then this above post!!! ... LOL!!

I literally had tears ********* down my face & could hardly read them bcos I couldn't stop laughing!!! Bloody hilarious reading this is!! Definitely a special kind of IVF humour!

I was just saying the other day I've never been so familiar with my own vagina my whole life as what I have been this month.. Sticking stuff up there 5 times a day!!

Thank you for the laugh! Best I've felt all day X
It makes me happy that this made you happy. 'Happy' is always still there, even if you think its disappeared forever and will never come back. Even when you dont get what you wanted to get happy. Even when you've forgotten that it existed coz you havent seen it in so long. But happy is always still just sitting their waiting for you. Sometimes happy jumps out of the blue pits of despair and surprises you and reminds you that it's still out there. xox
Sometimes, i think ivf gives me a dramatic mindset, in that i think really inclusively and epically. Like i think things like, 'if i dont get a baby, I'll never be happy'. But its not like you'll never have someone say something that makes you laugh so hard that you snort your bourbon out your nose again, hey? There will still be 'happy' even when there is 'sad'. They dont have to be mutually exclusive states of being.
Geezus, that was heavy. Id better self prescribe a friday bourbon or, two if thinking philosophically persists. (Sorry to cycling/ tww wait/ abstaining ladies but still have a happy friday night! Except if you're working shift or weekend, so sorry about mentioning friday night too)

I'm pretty sure Clinics do have a cut off age where they will stop treating a woman for stim Cycles as after a certain age there really is no point.

As for individual FS's, well I guess that would be up to them where they'd draw the line in the sand based on your past Cycles, individual medical history/issues, partners issues (if you have one) etc, etc I'd imagine.....that's for the one's with ethics/morals that will actually do that instead of Cycling you again and again knowing you havent got a hope in frucking hell just so that get their hands on your $!!!!!!

I also think that FS's do have a duty of care to a certain extent to tell a patient when they feel that any further Cycles are likely to be unsuccessful due to whatever reason. No-one wants to hear it..that their eggs are sh*t, that their embryo's are crap etc, etc but that's the reality when you get into this age bracket. How fast your eggs deteriorate is an individual thing but sure as sh*t everyone is in the same boat in that it's going to happen to everyone sooner or later and I'm talking within months to a year. The eggs just keep on deteriorating as the months and years roll on.

No woman in her 40's in going to have the egg quality of a woman in her early 30's or even a 35 year old and any FS who tells you that is a frucking liar!!!! As some of the other Girls have pointed out, there's more bad eggs than good and it gets harder to find the good one's. For some women, they can Cycle until the cows come home and never find one. That's the sad reality

That doesn't mean you don't try with your OE's just becuase the odds are against you. It just means it's probably better that you go into it knowing in advance how many tickets you're going to buy on this b*tch of a ride before you get on it!!!!!

Yeah, i totally agree. I always thought it was them telling you its gonna be a long, hard, expensive road. But i thought they'd let you if you understood that. Like i thought they'd let you pick your own number. What's the most number if cycles anyone's ever heard of anyone doing? Is there a guiness book of records thing? Scary thought.

I know with Monash for example, they did a study themselves, and had zero success with a group of women aged 45 with their own eggs. I think in that case it should be ok for them to say no.
I also think when we're aged over 40 and our chances are truly negligible, based on multiple factors, then sometimes we should be told to stop and move to donor eggs. We can chose to go for one final round with our existing clinic or somewhere else. Someone will usually be willing to take your money.
But then sometimes we need to hear the difficult heartbreaking truth about our own eggs so we can take the time to grieve and then move on to a more viable option. Or draw the line. It's the cr*p reality for us IVFers over 40.
In Australia there are very few options to upgrade your FS in the hope of a miracle by a proven baby maker.
I appreciate my opinion is very much my own and may not be a popular one. I don't mean to upset anyone.

I know my fs was telling me i wasnt there yet in relation to de. However if i was getting to epu with no follies then that would be a diff story. I was reading an article recently about some older ladies i mean 45 years plus doing countless cycles i think like 25 cycles or so just kept on going and unfort their fs kept taking the money. I think that at some stage there is a moral and ethical oblign to simply stop treat them. Its a gard call though.
