If they are based at the hospital then you will start off with monthly visits, going up to fortnightly visits going up to weekly visits. So you may not need to go to the hospital at all until you're in labour (unless you do a tour, antenatal classes etc). Not all obstetricians are based at the hospital they deliver at.

If you have a prem baby, or need transfer to the tertiary hospital (RBWH or Mater) it will be initiated by your own obstetrician so you need to see them first and they will be the ones to organise your transfer. If they don't have visiting rights, then they'll need to transfer your care to another obstetrician. If you just rock up at say the Mater they will have no info on you, you would be seen by public doctors etc

What exactly are you looking for in an obstetrician? What kind of birth are you hoping for etc. I can maybe help with some recommendations if I know what sort of obstetrician you're after.

The traffic is another concern. The only way to Mater is drive through Moggil Road and coronation drive which are the busiest road in the west. No need to say Mater is located in south bank, traffic jam in the city is always my nightmare.
However, there will be all highway to Greenslope. So,hun, do you think this will be the problem?

Congrats on your second cuttie!! May I ask what medication did you take? And how many cycles have you tried? My specialist put me on metformin, premolut and letrozole. This is my first cycle, very very nervous.

Loved the Wesley and had 2 babies there with Ross Turner. Pretty sure that all single rooms have private bathrooms now. Both babies were from long term IVF cycles so high stress pregnancies but Ross very understanding and caring.

I delivered at the Wesley last year and loved it. I'm pretty sure they are all private ensuites now. I am close to where you live and I loved how close it was. Don't forget you will have to travel there for all your appointments too. I would have hated travelling from our side of town to the Mater when heavily pregnant.

I'm about to have bub#2 at the Wesley. Had DS there 3 years ago, 8 days stay as he was in special care as a prem. Can't speak highly enough of the care there! Midwives were all super lovely, food was good, room was comy & spacious.

There are still 2 rooms which have a shared bathroom between them.

Only negative is the cost of parking, it's pretty pricey.

Love Greenslopes, they do have a special care unit.
Being transferred is no different than if you were public and had to be transferred

I always parked on the street for $2. There is heaps of street parking near the train station. Cheaper and easier than the Mater.
