    Default Family tax benefit A & B

    I claimed family tax benefit for a few months this financial year just gone and now my husband gross earnings has come in at just over the 100k mark , I earnt nothing . I feel sick thinking I'm going to get a Centrelink bill can anyone enlighten me if we will or not ?

    If you under estimated your husbands income, then you will have been overpaid and have to repay it. They deduct it from any supplements you might be eligible for first though.

    This happened to us, after DH earned more than expected, I think they just took the overpayments out of the supplements then reduced our payments accordingly. We did not get a bill from them to pay back.

    There is no way we could give you this information. It depends on number of children you have...how much you underestimated by and so on. They will take your tax return to recover anything first then supps if you were eligible then a bill for the remaining amount.
